Large Doughnut Cake Mould

I bought this mould as I had to make a cake in the shape of a charm and this was ideal. It was easy to use and the cake turned out well. I used the insert so that I could put a filling into the finished cake. The suggested quantities were spot on. The only thing it didn't mention was a suggested baking time so I had to guess! I put both sections in the oven together and it took about 30 minutes to bake. I'm going to use it to make a large doughnut cake next for the Macmillan coffee morning.

I got this to make my son's birthday cake. There were no instructions/recipe guide in the box but found the recipe for the 6 egg cake in the Recipe section. I sat each half in 21inch cake tins, this helped keep the shape perfectly! As for the recipe on here, urgh! Although it is a large batch recipe it did not fill each section so I had to cut bits off to make them flat and I bake a lot of cakes, this recipe is so dense its sickly! A lighter sponge/angel food cake recipe would be better. For the mould 5 stars, recipe 1 star!

bought in the sale and its a really fun item especially when you make this with a using the James Martin Giant doughnut cake recipe would recommend you give this a go especially at the current price :o)

This silicone mould sounds like a good idea but I found it quite tricky - my rings came out a distinctly wonky shape which is fine for at home I suppose but not if you want to impress. This also is a problem when you try to put the two halves together as they won't fit. It also seems to need an awful lot of mix.
