OXO Good Grips® Cold Brew Coffee Maker

Product number: 70584

We chose this OXO Good Grips Cold Brew coffee maker because, as you’d expect from OXO, it’s been carefully designed to be incredibly simple to use – and the resulting brew tastes fantastic too. The unique ‘Rainmaker’ at the top distributes water evenly, extracting the maximum amount of flavour from the grounds, and the ultra-fine stainless steel mesh filter keeps them out of your brew. When you’re ready to start filtering, just flip the switch on the front – a clever auto-stop function halts the process when the carafe below is removed, preventing any coffee puddles on your countertop. Once your cold brew is done, the silicone-sealed stopper caps off the carafe to help keep your coffee fresh in the fridge, and graduations on the side help you measure out exactly how much you want. The filter can be removed for cleaning, the glass carafe is dishwasher safe and it all nests neatly together for storage.

Cold brewing works by steeping coarse coffee grounds in cold water for up to 24 hours before filtering, producing a coffee ‘concentrate’ that stays fresh in the fridge for up to 2 weeks – just microwave or add hot water or milk, to your preference, when you fancy a brew. There’s no heating or electricity required, just time… and a little bit of patience.

A huge trend amongst coffee connoisseurs and baristas in the US, cold brewing is becoming an increasingly popular way to make coffee here in Britain too. What’s all the fuss about? Well, cold brewing extracts much less acid from the bean than brewing with hot water, producing a delicious, low-acidity drink which is naturally slightly sweet – perfect if you find the taste of ‘normal’ coffee just too bitter. Even those non-coffee drinkers in the Lakeland office became converts when they tasted it! But what gets coffee-lovers really excited about cold brewing is the way it brings subtle flavours to the fore. Nutty Brazilian, caramel-tinged Colombian, smoky Sumatran, tartly tropical Kenyan: if you’re a fan of flavour, cold brew’s for you.

"Amazing! Just what I've been looking for"

I'm a fan of cold blended coffee drinks you get from most coffee chains but couldn't never figure out how to make my own unless I brewed an espresso and let it go cold...this solves the problem fantastically. I let mine brew for the full 24hrs and it took about an hour to drain as I used finer coffee grounds than suggested. The stopper doubles as a measurer for pouring so you use the right amount. Put some in a blender with ice, milk & caramel sauce & it's the next best thing to the chain versions. I've also added hot water for a hot drink & it does taste less bitter than normal! Over the moon

"Fresh Coffee When You Need It, No Need to Wait for it to Brew"

star star star star star

Having previously owned and ran a coffee shop, we are keen coffee drinkers, enjoying a variety of coffee types from around the world, brewing coffee daily, including espresso shots for milky coffee drinks. We were very excited to try a new form of coffee brewer that provided a stock of fresh coffee concentrate (similar to espresso) as we did not have to brew a batch each time we wanted some. It did exactly that! Being a cold process there was no danger of scolding the granules. It is important to follow the instructions to understand the processs once you have mastered that you can then start experimenting with different blends and strength. For example we find an 20/80 split with espresso bean works well for our tastes. We are delighted with the product and would certainly recommend it to our family and friends.

"Love it!"

"Excellent!"

I own quite a few coffee gadgets/appliances. This cold brew coffee maker is excellent. No more mess and makes amazing cold brew (depending on your coffee of course!) It can be put away neatly. Has clear instructions which are easy to follow. Definitely worth it!

"Great coffee"

Very easy to use, makes great coffee, only downside for me is that the jug doesn't have a handle, which makes it more difficult to handle and I'm afraid of dropping it because it looks quite delicate.
