Lakeland 1.7L White Jug Kettle

I very much like the design, the capacity and the price point. What I do not like and wish I had seen the previous review is the water level indicator is an absolute waste of time. None of the family can see the water mark unless we hole the kettle up to eye level and hold in the light by which time, judging by the weight, we know how much water is in it!! Back to the drawing board Lakeland with this one!

I bought this yesterday because I love the look, light weight, size and colour of this kettle.The colour is not white white, it's more winter white. However, I am returning it as the water level mark is non existent when filled; the lid opening makes it awkward to fill from the tap and the lid didn't want to close correctly and needed a bit of fiddling with (an incorrectly fitting lid is what would cause the kettle to keep on boiling and filling the room with steam according to the instruction booklet). Such a shame as this is a stylish looking kettle - the picture does not do it justice.

I am extremely disappointed with this kettle. I liked the appearance of this model but was initially uneasy about it when I realised how difficult it is to see the water level when filling it. Nor is it easy to fill because the lid leaves so little room when open. However I was going to keep it nonetheless until after only two weeks it no longer switched off when it reached boiling point. It fills the kitchen with steam and if left unattended would presumably boil dry. I will return it as soon as possible.

If I had read previous reviews I would not have bought this. It is a lovely looking kettle but as said before it is not possible to see the wate level and filling it is not easy. We have kept it because it is too far to go to return it. The lid feels very insecure and does not always close properly. I suspect it will break off soon and then I probably will take it back rather than take it down the tip.
