PREPR Safety Can Opener

Product number: 70312

Easy to operate, the clever PrepR Safety Can Opener is quick, easy and super-safe to use. It is designed to ensure that your fingers will never come into contact with a sharp edge on the can by cutting through the thickest section of the rim. The cutting head locks onto the can as you turn the ergonomic handle and, when you release the opener, use the clever pincers on the side to lift off the lid.

About PrepR

PrepR have taken some of the most commonly used kitchen utensils and made it their mission to develop the most functional and practical version possible of each – and at affordable prices too. They’ve considered even the tiniest details, and each piece in the range is well thought out, robust, super-efficient and effortless to use. And it doesn’t hurt that the two-tone green and charcoal finish they’ve been given looks pretty smart as well.

"Total satisfaction. No problem."

star star star star star

I read the reviews before I ordered - and accepted the challenge! If the instructions are followed as written the lid is removed very easily and safely. Used correctly there is no problem whatsoever with this product. If customers are experiencing any difficulty then the fault lies entirely with them and not with the can opener. I have lived for over four score years and this is the best opener I have ever used. It has to be 5 stars.

"excellent if used properly"

Had a similar one before, so know how it operates. It really works, the trick is to make sure you push the locking-handle fully anti-clockwise, then turn the top handle. That way it grips and lifts the lid off the base. Tested this on a olive oil can, it took the top off neatly with 2 trips round the can. No sharp edges.

"Excellent tool"

Purchased 2 of these as Christmas presents this year one for someone on blood thiners the other for someone with arthritus and young children. I have one and its so easy to use no need to be able to grip strongly and no chance of citting myself on sharp edges.

"Best ever can opener"

I read all the reviews on this, lots of negatives, but thought that Lakeland wouldn't sell a can opener that didn't work. I was right. First time used on tin of grapefruit, locked on no bother, took top off with built in grippers no bother. Perfectly clean cut. It was a pleasure to be able to safely drink the juice straight from the tin ! It's a shame the negative reviews have dragged the rating on this down. it is definitely a five star product.

"The safest can opener I've ever used."

The tin MUST be absolutely tight against the metal plate of the opener and then be locked on. The tin needs to hang free, held only by the opener. Turning the handle clockwise (from above) scores the top RIM of the tin just 1.5mm below the very top. After scoring all around, the opener is removed, turned 90°, then the built-in plier grip used to easily pry off the can lid. The result is ZERO sharp edge on the tin and a recessed lid edge. A very satisfactory, neat result. It DOES take a little patience to master, but other reviewers appear to lack practical skills, despite boasting 'degrees'.
