It is glass and to me that is better than plastic BUT the markings wear off far before the end of the jug's life. I now have two glass jugs which used to be measuring jugs.
After over 20 years service we dropped and broke our Pyrex measuring jug last year so I bought a replacement from Lakeland in Harrogate. At lunchtime today I made myself scrambled eggs in the jug, the same recipe I always use, a couple of eggs in the jug, seasoning, which with a fork and microwave for 70 seconds taking the jug out periodically to stir the eggs. My lunch came out fine, I put the eggs on my toast, put the jug on the kitchen worktop ready to wash and there was a loud crack at which the jug fell apart. The entire side came away and a further crack went round the rest of the jug.
