Muslin Squares 30cm.

I have just purchased a packet of these as my old packets of muslin nappies I used to buy are no longer easily available. Having opened the packet I was appalled to find they are only finished by cutting with pinking shears and were already shedding bits. They would fray into your food. They are 60p each near enough and are too small for marmalade, straining a pan of jelly and certainly too small for straining a litre of yoghurt to make cheese.I see now that you make bigger squares but they are nearly £1 each. I went to a fabric shop and bought a metre of muslin that looks the same for £1.98.

Lakeland describe this product accurately giving size, and the picture shows it over a sieve, so no doubting what it is useful for. I use for straining home made yoghurt, so ok for me. I think it would be too small to wrap a pudding which they suggest, also I have found they fray very easily. A choice of small and larger size and hemmed edges would improve this already good product.

After reading many reviews expressing how small the muslin squares were, I was pleasantly surprised when I opened my pack to see that they were bigger than I expected. I wanted them to strain almond milk. It would be great to have a range of sizes to choose from but for me, making the almond milk, they have worked just fine. I do agree with some other reviews that the ends easily frayed. Am I right in thinking that these are one-time use and can't be washed/re-used?

these make great flannels! dry really fast..perfect for travel...slight texture makes me feel really clean! wash well and cheap enough to throw out when you are washed out!

As others here have commented, these squares are too small for using when making marmalade. You are missing out on sales, Lakeland, as I for one buy my muslin squares elsewhere (I buy 24" square, hemmed muslin for £1 each - they can be washed and re used too)!
