Rectangular Baking Stone

Product number: 70057

Give your home-baked bread and pizza the professional touch with this Rectangular Baking Stone which will help turn any standard oven into a pizza oven, so you can make authentic Italian-style home-made pizzas, pastries and rustic breads without the expense of building an outdoor oven in your garden. Made from stoneware, it conducts heat evenly across its whole surface and cooks all sorts of things brilliantly – we’ve even included a non-pizza recipe to inspire you...

How to use

Place the stone directly onto a shelf in the middle of a cold oven and heat to 230°C. Once the oven reaches temperature your Pizza Stone is ready for action, and able to cook pizza after pizza at speed. The most efficient way to cook your pizzas is to assemble them first and use a pizza peel in true pizzeria fashion to place it onto the hot stone. Taking just minutes to cook, use the paddle-shaped peel to lift the pizza off the stone and then place the next one to keep the production line going – and your guests well fed.

If you’re going to take the hot stone platter out of the oven to serve what you’ve cooked please ensure that the metal rack is positioned on heat-resistant mats before you place the stone onto it. The metal rack is only suitable for use as a trivet.

Pizza with a professional touch

Every time you use this traditional pizza stone it absorbs excess moisture from the dough or pastry you cook – building a patina over time that will demonstrate its authenticity. Because you preheat it, the cooking process starts immediately food is placed upon it – just like in the stone-built pizza ovens of traditional Italian restaurants – so it will create a deliciously light and crispy crust every time.

Great for breads and pastries

Not just for pizza, you can use your pizza stone for baking rustic breads, scones, biscuits, cookies and pastries… There’ll be no risk of a soggy-bottomed tart, and things cook faster than on a standard baking tray, because the radiant heat of the stone cooks from underneath from the moment an item is placed upon it.

Please note : the pizza stone must be cool before you wash it and should be washed with hot water only. Do not use soap or detergent and do not submerge or soak the stone.

Metal utensil friendly.

"Good size stone but shatters even if used correctly"

star star star_border star_border star_border

After 3 uses it shattered. We were mindful of this issue so followed instructions very clearly and let it cool of in the oven gradually after every use. After gradually heating it up, putting the pizza on it, waiting for it to cook quickly removing just the pizza we found that it shattered during cooking. Would not recommend which is a shame as the stone produces the nicest crust.

"Needs careful treatment"

First one cracked and was replaced immediately: thanks Lakeland! Second baking stone lasted a while, then disaster was my fault: I put a frozen pizza on a very hot baking stone... the stone cracked. Now weighing up whether to re-order this one (holding my breath) or try the new Ooni one... No other baking stones will take my large 1kg loaf: very successful stone when it works..

support_agent A note from the team

Placing a frozen cold pizza on a hot oven pizza stone causes a thermal shock which can break the pizza stone. It mainly happens due to the rapid temperature change involved.

"no soggy bottoms"

good product - given as Christmas gift and already in use. People don't realise what a difference the stone makes to pastry crust. only problem is the weight.,

This review is for an older version of this product

Very disappointed as this is my second one and it has broken in two .I have followed the instructions on the box .Will go back to the old way of cooking pizza.

"Not up to the task"

star star_border star_border star_border star_border

I bought two of these stones and both have shattered while backing pizzas. They were heated and cooled down as per instruction. The temperature of the oven was quite high, but not far over 220 and pizzas need a high heat to crisp up successfully. I will be claiming a refund, but I think it should be made clear that this really is not suitable for pizzas.

support_agent A note from the team

We understand that you followed the instructions with regards to not heating them up too quickly, but another reason this can happen is excessive moisture, perhaps from the pizza or from cleaning the stones. We're sorry that both the stones had cracked and we see we've now been able to help you with a refund.
