Lakeland Stainless Steel Digital Ice Cream Maker 1.5L

Product number: 63485

Sweet, creamy vanilla, rich chocolate, salted caramel or summery strawberry – everyone’s got their favourite flavour of ice cream, and you can make them all in our Stainless Steel Digital Ice Cream Maker. It’s quick, easy, you know exactly what’s gone into it (unlike the tubs you buy in the supermarket) and it makes healthier-option lower-fat frozen yoghurt and dairy-free sorbet too.

How to stay cool

You need to freeze the inner bowl for 12 hours before you make a batch, so you’ll probably want to just store it in the freezer in case of snack attacks. Then you just put the ice cream machine together, and select the churning time using the arrow buttons on the simple touchscreen panel – it’ll start automatically, and immediately start counting down the time till it’s ready on the clear LCD display.

Once the paddle’s started turning, pour your prepared, cooled mixture through the opening in the lid and leave it to work its magic. You can add extra ingredients like chopped nuts, berries or chocolate chips while it’s working away, and before you know it you’ll be feasting on whatever frozen treat you fancy. And when it’s done, it comes apart for really easy cleaning.

Ice cream inspiration

You’ll find six delicious recipes in the instruction booklet to get you started, from traditional vanilla and strawberry to mint choc chip and pistachio ice creams, plus refreshing lemon and mixed berry sorbets and dark chocolate orange frozen yoghurt. And there’s plenty more inspiration on our blog, with dairy-free and vegan options too.

1.5 litre bowl – working capacity 800ml. 20.5cm Dia. x 24cm H. 3.2kg. Flex 120cm. 12W.

"Christmas present"

star star star star star

Bought this item for my husband as a Christmas present and he was delighted with it. He hasn't used it as yet but has perused the recipes and is looking forward to making some of them. It seems a very sturdy item and hopefully will last for some time.

"Delicious"

Have only made sorbet so far but it works well

"Reasonably good machine"

star star star star star_border

My first ice cream maker! I’ve made two lots of ice cream with reasonable success. The machine is easy to assemble although the stainless steel looking casing is flimsy, the freezer bowl is robust and stays cold for much longer than needed to create the ice cream. The recipes are easy to follow and the ice cream is smooth and tasty. My only gripe is that the paddle leaves a 5mm thick layer of ice cream around the edge of the bowl which is difficult to remove as it is very solid. The paddle also stays in the ice cream when you remove the motor, not sure if it’s supposed to or not. Overall good.

"A good product with confusing instructions"

I assembled the machine and carefully read these instructions of which the first sentence is confusing - nothing can be done until power button is pressed, so the instructions are in the wrong order. "Set the selected preparation time (00.05 - 45.00 minutes) by pressing the “arrow” buttons. Each time you press the arrow buttons, it will change in 5 minutes increments. Press the POWER button and select the duration for which you wish the ice cream maker to run. Your ice cream maker will start automatically after 3 seconds." Otherwise it's great!

"Rather disappointed"

This review is for an older version of this product

This makes lovely ice cream but every single time I have churned, when I remove the bowl the two parts of the paddle assembly come apart, leaving the main paddle still in the ice cream. This makes it very difficult to remove the finished ice cream from the bowl. If I remove the paddle manually it is messy, takes time during which the ice cream is continuing to freeze around the sides and bottom of the bowl. Then I have to scrape the paddle, which has by that time started to melt.
