When you’re cooking outdoors it’s not always easy to tell if your cooking surface is hot enough to let you start feeding the hungry hordes you’ve invited round. So Ooni have brought out this Infrared Temperature Gun – a point-and-press, digital thermometer that helps you be certain your pizza oven, pizza stone, barbecue or outdoor grill is up to temperature and ready to go.

How to use it

Simply point the ‘gun’ at the area you wish to check (it must be a non-reflective surface) and press the trigger – the infrared laser helps ensure you’ve aimed correctly – and in just fractions of a second the display will register the temperature. The smaller the area you wish to check, the closer you need to be… it’ll read accurately between 30-150cm away from most surfaces.

Important note: the infrared laser must never be aimed at eyes, even via a reflective surface.

"Brilliant Ooni Accessory"

It's a must have accessory for an Ooni oven (we have the Karu), as I guess it would be impossible to ascertain if the oven is up to temperature without it. According to my engineer other half the product is well built and accurate, and it's really easy to use. The little carry case is a nice addition for storage and protection, and we think it's value for money (compared to similar items from other brands). Highly recommended.

We bought this thermometer to use with our Ooni Karu 12 pizza oven and it’s been worth every penny! We truly believe it’s crucial to be aware of the oven and especially the stone temp and this gadget makes it an instant and easy task. We’ve experimented making pizzas without measuring the stone temp and it’s resulted in ok but not as amazing results as when temp is measured. It’s so useful in gauging whether the temp has gone back up sufficiently between pizzas. It’s also super useful for barbecues or domestic ovens. Highly recommend + Lakeland 3yr guarantee
