I bought this last year 2020 and planning to by another again this year as it is wonderful

"A great Christmas Cake"

star star star star star

I tried this for the first time this year. and wasn't disappointed. It is a great cake mix, with easy to follow instructions and it tastes good too! I used Lakeland's marzipan and royal icing to finish it off. Will definitely buy again next year.

"Very acceptable fruit cake"

I bought this as a gift to send abroad for someone who wouldn't ever make their own fruitcake. Having never made a cake mix before (always make my own and already have this year's Christmas cake maturing prior to icing) I decided I'd better try the mix in case it was awful and if it wasn't then buy another to gift. Well I made it up - very easy and the quality of the dried fruit was good. I replaced the water with the same volume of ginger wine which may have had the result of making the cake sweeter than it otherwise would have been. It's not Christmas cake quality but is a fine fruitcake.

"Awful. Not up to Lakeland’s usual standards."

Cake tastes like those awful long life cakes you buy that have an endless use by date. Not worth the money on this occasion. You are better off putting £5.99 towards separate ingredients as there are just too many additives in this mix. Definately not up to Lakeland’s usual quality.

support_agent A note from the team

We're sorry you didn't like the taste. Please be assured that the additives are relatively low and nothing out of the ordinary. Our buying team found that the mix makes it very easy to create the Christmas cake and enjoyed the end result.
