Lakeland Dotted Egg Coddler
Product number: 63080
Eggs – you love ‘em. We love ’em. Fried, soft-boiled, hard-boiled, scrambled, poached, omeletted (is that a word?), coddled… Coddled? If you’re wondering just what a coddled egg is – wonder no more. Put simply, it’s an egg that’s been gently cooked in a small dish – usually a ramekin – in a hot water bath, until the yolk is runny and the white is cooked. A bit like poaching but without the panful of stringy bits and the watery mess all over your plate. Nobody likes stringy bits.
We think you’ll enjoy using the Lakeland Egg Coddler – it’s the perfect way to cook and serve coddled eggs – and we know you’ll love that it’s nice and tall so there’s room to add extra ingredients to make more of a meal of it. The included instruction leaflet will give you a few tasty ideas.
Tactile embossed design
Our egg coddler also includes a tactile embossed design on the outside of the porcelain pot, and a stainless steel screw-top lid to keep things contained while coddling.
- Step 1. Grease your coddler with butter.
- Step 2. Crack an egg (or two) into it.
- Step 3. Add some tasty extra ingredients – ham, spinach, feta – whatever you fancy.
- Step 4. Put the lid on (not too tight) and stand your coddler in a pan of boiling water – the water should come two thirds of the way up the sides – and cook for 6 to 9 minutes.
- Step 5. Tuck in, straight from the coddler.
