Each chunky chap is made from deliciously dark, 100% cocoa solids chocolate, with a truffle centre made from more dark chocolate and coconut oil. They’re definitely not for the faint of heart or sweet of tooth, and we wouldn’t try giving them to kids – don’t say we didn’t warn you! – but as a hit of purest cocoa-rich, bitter-but-smooth chocolate, they really can’t be beaten.

Montezuma believe that high cocoa percentage chocolate is only possible with the best quality cocoa. Sugar can mask a lot of faults in the cocoa, so when there is no sugar added it is critical to get the flavour and quality of the cocoa absolutely perfect – which is why only the very best goes into their Absolute Black range of 100% cocoa solids chocolate.

About Montezuma’s
In 1999, the husband and wife team behind Montezuma’s quit their jobs as lawyers to travel around South America. After spending some time on a cocoa plantation and eating loads of amazing chocolate, an idea was born. Initially making every bar by hand, using only a kitchen sink-sized machine and bags of enthusiasm, they set up shop in Brighton with a vision to shake up the staid British chocolate market. Sourcing only the best quality cocoa and trading ethically and sustainably, they’ve gradually expanded to open a few more shops and supply many more with their fantastic confections, all the while staying true to the ideals they started out with.
