Planet-friendly biodegradable and recyclable packaging

Encased in a sturdy, biodegradable, recycled paper case, covered by a colourful recyclable paper sleeve and with the egg itself wrapped in recyclable foil, it’s far lighter on the packaging than lots of other Easter eggs out there – and there’s no plastic in sight. And because we don’t want to sell an egg that comes in barely-there packaging and then pack it in lots of bubble wrap and paper to ensure it gets to you in one piece, this Easter egg is… Only available to buy in store.

In 1999, the husband and wife team behind Montezuma’s quit their jobs as lawyers to travel around South America. After spending some time on a cocoa plantation and eating loads of amazing chocolate, an idea was born. Initially making every bar by hand, using only a kitchen sink-sized machine and bags of enthusiasm, they set up shop in Brighton with a vision to shake up the staid British chocolate market.
