Lakeland Blue Glow Mirrored Kettle 1.7L

I’ve had this kettle since 2019, and it looks great with the blue light when boiling. However after a while when pouring out the water I found it to pour mostly onto my worktop !! I’ve tried different amounts of water in it, but no difference. I couldn’t stand it any longer so while at Windermere Lakeland at the weekend I’ve bought the sage compact kettle instead.

This is a nice kettle, glows blue when boiling but it is a right hand kettle, I say this because the water scale is only available on one side of the kettle. If you are left handed then you can not see the water level when filling. The glass has a reflective coating, which is fine during the day, but at night it is like a mirror so you cannot see the water level. The handle is a bit bulky and difficult for people with arthritis in their hands and it is not the best pourer. Overall it is not a bad kettle, it boils quietly enough and does the job intended.

I have bought several of these for my workplace and all have performed as expected. A great product in my opinion

I picked this kettle because it was Quiet Mark Approved. I had not realised how much the glass construction would make the kettle quite heavy. It has never felt comfortable to lift and pour. But after a few weeks of use it has become impossible to pour without ending up with water on the work top. It is very disappointing.

I have just registered with Lakeland so that I can vent my frustration with this kettle. When I first purchased the kettle I was impressed by the look of it but disappointed in the time it took to boil. Now I find it pours boiling water over my worktop every time I use it. The spout is poorly shaped and can only handle a dribble of water without spillage - how on earth did it pass through any form of testing. I bought the kettle on the assumption Lakeland was a reliable brand name - lesson learned.
