b’Lure Colour Change Butterfly Pea Flower Cocktail Concentrate 100ml

Product number: 61264

Add drama to your drinks and cocktails and extra pizzazz to your parties with b’Lure Colour Change Butterfly Pea Flower Cocktail Concentrate. Just a few drops added to your clear drinks will turn them a lovely shade of blue. So far so wow. But that’s not the end of the magic – squeeze in lime or lemon or add some tonic water, and before your very eyes the drink will slowly change colour to purple and then pink, much to the delight of your guests.

Easy to Use

A boon for bartenders and home mixologists alike, b’Lure is ideal for making layered drinks, colour changing gin cocktails and transforming clear cocktails without affecting the taste – blue mojito, anyone? The easy-to-use dropper makes it simple to control how much you’re putting in and the bottle contains enough concentrate to make between 20 to 30 eye-catching cocktails. You can even prolong the magical effect by making slow-melting b’Lure ice cubes – just add a few drops per cube before freezing – for a fascinating effect as they thaw.

How the Magic Works

Incredibly popular at the moment, blue drinks usually require artificial colouring and ingredients to achieve their vibrant hue, but not so with b’Lure. Each bottle contains the extract from over 130 hand-picked butterfly pea flowers (along with just sugar and water) to provide a completely natural blue food colouring. And the humble flower has another trick up its sleeve too. It contains an antioxidant that reacts to acidity, gradually shifting the shade of your drink from blue to shades of purple and pink, depending how much citrus you add. The Butterfly Pea Flower extract is completely soluble and doesn't water your cocktails or drinks down.

Butterfly Pea Flowers

An edible blue food is quite rare in nature, but the butterfly pea flower has been used as a 100% natural food colour in Thailand (where it grows) for many years. The flowers are usually dried and used as a herbal ingredient in many foods including rice, desserts and drinks – and it’s a key ingredient in nam doc anchan, a special tea mixed with honey and lemon and served over ice as a welcome drink to travellers.

Not Just for Adults

With its very mild flavour and subtle sweetness, b’Lure combines well with other foods too – add it to slushies, ice creams and desserts, cakes and other bakes or even mix with herbs and spices. Get creative with coloured icing and macaroons. Jazz up children’s drinks – a couple of drops in ice cubes will turn lemonade pink as they melt – or add it to water and other sparkling drinks to give teenage parties a touch of glamour.

Mix More Dramatic Drinks

Sure to add drama and fascination to party drinks, b’Lure is made by the same people as our Wild Hibiscus Flowers which open up when mixed with fizz, and we’re sure it’ll be every bit as popular with creative cocktail enthusiasts.

"B'Lure is a game changer"

star star star star star

Love how this transforms the colour of your drinks - looks magical and even better when a few drops have been frozen in ice

"Kept kids quiet for ages!"

Making 'mocktails' with the kids - they loved the colours! didn't notice any taste but didn't use much

"Such pretty colours!"

Our drinks this year were even more Christmassy than usual since they were in a range of different colours! It was so much fun watching our drinks change colour and then watching the pretty colours swirl around the drink while we were drinking. A great product!

"Doesn't work!"

I brought two bottles of these for a birthday party. The effect was very poor, the drinks (G&T) and went straight to purple which looked like a drink of Meths, the colours did not swirl through the colours as per the advert , it was a big disappointment and I would not recommend this product, I may as well have put a bit of food colouring into the glasses. FYI we made the G&T's then added Lemon slice to some Lime slice to others all were underwhelmed it was very disappointing with the lack of any wow factor. We then tried in just plain tap water again the product failed. Deserves Zero rating.

It's a bright blue concentrated extract - If other ingredients are added that have a higher acidity (like limes or lemons), the colour of your drink then changes from blue to purples and pinks depending on the acidity(pH) of the drink or food it is mixed with. The colour will stay blue when water is added. We're glad we were able to help via web chat.

"Waste of money"

Tried this out with ice cubes & cocktails. You need to use loads to get any kind of colour! Quite expensive for how much you need to use. The dripper just ran out too so no need to squeeze! Wouldn’t recommend
