We love all the puddings made by the Ultimate Food Company – our near neighbours and good friends in the South Lakes so we've asked them to create this gorgeous Lakeland Gluten-Free Christmas Pudding. And, as it’s vegetarian as well as gluten-free, you can hopefully meet everyone’s dietary needs at the end of Christmas dinner without any need to compromise on taste, texture or flavour.

Made in Kendal to a traditional Cumbrian recipe, you can really taste the top-quality fruit – from the English apples to the Turkish sultanas and Iranian dates – in every mouthful, but at the same time the texture of this lovely dome of Christmas indulgence is perfectly light and utterly moreish. A hint of Australian ginger gives it a full flavour, too, and rounds off the perfect balance of spices.

The fruit for these puddings is also steeped in Spanish sherry and French brandy for as long as it takes to get maximum flavour and then the puddings are all matured, on site in Kendal, until they are absolutely ready to steam and serve.

So you can cross one thing off your Christmas baking to-do list and still be confident of serving up a scrumptious pudding on the big day – served with brandy sauce, Cumberland rum butter, cream, ice cream or custard – or all of the above!
