If you’ve ever drunk a cup of espresso, latte or cappuccino in Italy, you’re sure to have found a little biscotto nestled in the saucer. Traditional Tuscan biscotti, also known as cantucci if they’re made with almonds, are extremely brittle and hard – and usually easier to eat once you’ve dunked them in your breakfast or after-dinner drink. But our friends at Borgo de’Medici have cleverly developed a new recipe, still made in Tuscany from the highest quality local ingredients, which is a little softer in the mouth (and gentler on the gums). The secret of these soft-baked beauties is closely guarded but we’re sure you’ll enjoy the texture and the sweet, nutty flavour of these artisan cookies all the same.
