Grown in the orchards of Southern Europe, whole Ercolina baby pears are renowned for their delicious, sweet taste and firm texture. Opies have selected only the very best and have steeped them in a delicious syrup enhanced with rich ruby port – and it’s a perfect union with more than a hint of indulgence.

Hand-bottled and carefully preserved, they’re heavenly on their own, but these irresistibly boozy pears are wonderful in a host of desserts too; they’re simply divine with ice cream or yoghurt, amazing in tarts, and with a meringue and a dollop of freshly whipped cream... well, words fail us!

About Opies

Opies was founded in 1880 by Bennett Opie, a Cornish miner who travelled to London to supply Cornish eggs to London markets. As business took off, Bennett diversified into glace cherries (how exotic!), pickles and preserves. In 1929 the business moved to a new factory in Kent where its pickling techniques meant local people affectionately called them the 'Pickle People'. And although things have changed since Bennett’s days, the dedication to speciality, luxury foods hasn’t – we’ve been tickled pink with these lovely pears!
