A deliciously indulgent blend of layers of seasonal fruit (including strawberries, apricots, cherries and blackberries) soaked in rum, rumtopf (or rum pot) is a traditional German dessert, usually eaten around Christmas time. You can enjoy it on its own but it’s also wonderful in an Eton mess, alongside meringue or spooned over ice cream, pancakes or waffles.
