I was given a box of these macaroons as a gift for my birthday and was surprised when I took one out as I was expecting the usual macaroon biscuits, however it was so unusual and absolutely delicious - I now have 2 boxes. Unfortunately I like abroad so can only replenish when I visit the UK sadly

I love macaroons so when I saw these on offer I bought two boxes. However, as other reviewers say these are not macroons but very large thick discs of chocolate sandwiched together with the creme. They were even better than imagined. The chocolate is excellent quality, and melts in the mouth. Thought I had died and gone to heaven . . . so I ordered a stash as Lakeland say they are discontinuing. Shame. They are actually worth the original selling price as a treat for any chocolate lover.
To me macaroons are biscuits made with almonds.. light and crunchy These are just great slabs of chocolate sandwiched together and not a macaroon in sight
We're sorry to hear this product has not met your expectations.It's always a talking point when the word macaroons is mentioned. There's the French origin version of macarons - (one '0') which resemble the Thomas & Grace version we sell albeit not as chocolately.Our own recollections of almonds appears the same as yours plus wasn't there a dessicated coconut alternative? Oh how I wish I had read the previous review and realised these were not Macaroons but just large chocolate buttons sandwiched together with some nice flavoured filling. It is not even very good chocolate. How can it be said they are for the macaroon lover when they are not macaroons? This is the first thing I have bought from Lakeland that has disappointed me and it has done so big time!!

NOT macaroons! They're chocolate sweets with fondant filling. I see point made here twice, first time a year ago, but product still on sale. A macaroon is a biscuit/cake made of egg white & ground nuts. Staff reply was disingenuous in bringing in French meanings - irrelevant! - this is an English product, made and packaged in England with English writing on the label, and makes no pretension to French confiserie. I see you're to stop selling but think you should have withdrawn remaining stock instead of allowing me and others to buy them under this description until you'd sold them all.
