40m Lakeland Adjustable Rotary Airer

Product number: 53440

Turn sunny, breezy days into drying days with this durable Lakeland Adjustable Rotary Airer. With a generous 40m of drying space, it can hold up to 28kg of laundry – that's roughly to four whole wash loads! And because it's height adjustable, it's extremely easy to load.

Height adjustable and easy to load

With plenty of space between the lines and an adjustable pole (from 1.29m to 1.68m), you can set the airer at a height that works for you, altering it using the easy-to-use umbrella clip – when you've got bedding to dry, you'll be grateful for the extra height. And of course it rotates 360°, so you can load up the lines from one spot without moving a heavy basket of wet washing around.

No concreting needed

With some rotary airers, you need to buy a ground spike separately, or concrete the airer into the ground – both a faff you don't need. Our great value airer comes with a sturdy plastic ground to hold it securely in place on your lawn.

"Rotary line doesn’t fit into spike properly"

star star star_border star_border star_border

Rotary line is too small and rocks about in the spike as it doesn’t fit snugly. Means it’s on a lean. Very frustrating.

"Flawed Design"

star star star_border star_border star_border

First the plastic lip on the spike was broken but we let that go. The big problem is that the diameter of the ground spike is much larger than the diameter of the pole which has to go in it. Using a spirit level we put the spike in the ground perfectly straight but once you put the pole in, the airer rocks about and leans within it. It leans even more with laundry hung on it. We wedged 2 bits of wood in the gap but it didn't work. We now have a flattish stone wedged between the pole and the inner edge of the spike to stop it from leaning/moving about. Don't bother, not a good product.

"Screw in Base Appealed - but it's a bad design"

star star star star_border star_border

We were attracted by this airer, because of the 'screw in' base, which we thought would be easy to level. The problem is that the base protrudes about 5cms from the surface of the lawn, so it tends to lean unless it's really equally loaded, which you can never get 100%. Overtime, it has come to lean more and more. Effectively, because of the protrusion, it is gradually being levered out. It's not helped by the fact that the pole does NOT fit snuggly in the base, so the lean is more acute. I suspect it's only a matter of time before we bin this, and buy a better designed product.
