Lakeland Digital Steam Iron 250ml

Product number: 53395

You’ll know when it’s time to upgrade your iron – maybe the temperature dial doesn’t twist round properly anymore, or there was that one time you accidentally ironed over the decal on a t-shirt and it’s had a sticky patch on the soleplate ever since, or perhaps it just leaves a trail of drips behind it, leaving your board and clothes damp. If it’s time to put your old-faithful into retirement, our Digital Steam Iron is part of the next generation of steam irons and is packed full of features to breathe new life in to your ironing routine.

Take the guesswork out of ironing

The large LED display lets you accurately set the level of steam and heat you need, so there’s no more squinting at a dial and hoping you’ve set it to the right temperature. And you won’t have to run the risk of melting your favourite blouse, as the display tells you which setting to use for each type of material.

Can turn its hand to any pressing matter

To tackle even the most awkward ironing jobs, this digital iron produces a whopping 30g of steam per minute and has four steam settings:

  • Dry – So you can use it as a dry iron without any steam for more delicate fabrics or to press garments flat – handy if you’re into dressmaking.
  • Burst – Press the button on the handle for a concentrated shot of steam. There’s also a spray button for an extra dash of water to help shift those really stubborn wrinkles.
  • Continuous – To make everyday ironing as easy as possible, continuous steam will help lift those crinkles out in no time. And you’re in complete control of the heat thanks to the variable steam control.
  • Vertical – Use it all over the house to steam curtains or suits on hangers. And because it’s so lightweight, there’ll be no more dead arms to put up with as you get the creases out of your drapes.

Auto shut-off feature

It happens – you go to make a cup of tea mid-ironing pile and, before you know it, something else distracts you and it’s been 10 minutes since you wandered away from the iron… For peace of mind and safety, the iron will turn itself off after 8 minutes if left on its base. And for extra security, it will turn off after 30 seconds when left horizontally if something more urgent calls you away.

A clean iron at the push of a button

We know the laundry is already enough of a herculean task without having to think about cleaning your iron as well as everything else. So ours has self-cleaning and anti-calc functions to keep its insides clean and clear of limescale so it can keep on working at its best for you, leaving you with one less thing to worry about.

Please note: this iron has a special filter so it will take care of itself and filter out any nasties – you do not need to purchase special demineralised water.

Super-smooth anodised soleplate

The non-stick coating ensures the base glides over all fabrics without any risk of dragging, sticking or pulling.

And some extra little helpers

There’s even an LED light on the tip to light up those fiddly corners and crevices so there’s nowhere for wrinkles to hide. And the water tank is easy to fill thanks to the extra-wide opening and included filling cup.

"Poorly-designed and inconsistent temperature"

star star_border star_border star_border star_border

Really disappointed with this iron, which appears to have been designed by someone who has never ironed. Flex is too short and there is no way of winding around the heel when not in use as there is no retaining lip on the heel. Secondly the temperature control is positioned right where you hold the iron, causing inadvertent changes of heat settings whilst ironing. The corner of the steam button digs in to the side of the base of your index finger whilst ironing, meaning you have to hold the iron at the heel end of the handle, making it unwieldy. Random steam and temperature. Avoid

"Couple of tweaks"

star star star star star_border

Next best to a Steam Generator but I feel that there may be just a couple of tweaks needed. The dark green colour of the water tank makes the fill level difficult to discern especially if the user has sight issues. Also, when handling the iron into and out of the upright position, it is way too easy to accidentally catch the minus button and not know until the efficiency of the steam declines and on examination, the setting has reverted to 1 or zero. Otherwise, this is a very good steam iron.

"Some negative features which were outweighed by positives"

star star star star star_border

As others mentioned the flex is too short. The hotter and cooler switches are confusingly the wrong way round. It is quite heavy, even before water has been added. On the plus side it is well priced, and irons brilliantly. The vertical steaming feature is useful, as is the front light. It is handy being able to use tap water rather than having to buy de-ionised water.

"Really good iron but has a couple of bad points"

star star star star star_border

Really good iron but it has a couple of bad points a) the cable length is really short could do with another metre as I had to get an extension reel so that I could use it. b) the + and - buttons are in the wrong place as when ironing you keep touching them and it alters the settings.

"Excellent iron but short lead"

star star star star star_border

This is an excellent iron, however the flex is far too short. Over 3’ of it is lost over the worktop to the ironing board so the iron does not reach all over the board. We compared the lead to other irons we’ve had and they were between 8-9’. Nevertheless I liked the iron so much my husband extended it a further 3’ from an old iron flex and now I can iron happily in my kitchen space. One star knocked off for the short lead. I see from other reviews and market research Lakeland know about this problem. It feels cost cutting which is a shame as for me it stops it being a 5* perfect iron.
