Home Brewer's 30 Standard Wine Bottle Corks

I used these corks on three different batches of wine last year. Using them with the Lakeland corker was easy. However, so far I have opened three bottles from two of the batches and had problems with each bottle. In all cases the corks broke as I tried to open the bottles. Maybe have been unlucky, but I think I'll be trying an alternative after this.

Firstly, I love Lakeland and buy lots of lovely things from them. Sadly, these corks are not up to their usual standard. We made out first wine this year....from organic strawberries grown by me and lovingly mashed, fermented and racked. I am pretty gutted that the 5 bottles we have tried to open were all spoiled as the corks simply disintegrated. There is nothing we can do..except put the wine through muslin before serving. And that doesn't do anything for the 3 bottles we gave away as presents. Very poor quality and ruined our lovely wine. So sorry Lakeland but you need to stop selling these

I ordered these corks to put in the bottles that I ordered at the same time. I bottled up my ginger beer yesterday and couldn't get the corks into the bottles. I had to cut them down so now think that they will disintegrate when I try to take them out. Certainly won't be using the remaining corks.

I buy lots of stuff from Lakeland and have always been happy with the quality and the lovely staff at my local store but these corks are terrible. I used them to cork all my apple wine and my blackcurrant. Just started drinking the blackcurrant and 3 out of 3 so far have stuck in the bottle leaving little bits of broken cork in the wine. I now must assume that both batches are ruined...

Bought these and bottles a year ago, and every time when trying to open a bottle the cork disintegrates. This means I have to dig out the cork and filter and decant the wine. When removed there are bits of cork stuck on the inside of the bottle neck. I have tried inserting the corks dry and after soaking - makes no difference. The item is not fit for purpose
