We’ve all gone quackers for these quirky characters, who will be a real talking point in anyone’s garden, not just on account of their looks but because of their origins too. Designed and developed by talented wildlife artists in Zimbabwe, each piece is individually hand-crafted from recycled metal oil drums which gives a unique, rustic effect so no two pieces are ever the same. The artists also benefit from a really fair trading arrangement with part of the profit going directly back into their own community. I already have two baby ducks purchased from a National Trust shop when on a visit. They have been standing by my garden pond but always looked as if something was missing. They now have a mummy duck who keeps a watchful eye over them and the family looks complete.The way in which these ornaments are produced has always appealed to me and it is great to be able to support a project such as this.
There are of lots of similar products to these metal ducks and these are a little more expensive than most. But when you see them and hold them you can see why! Detailed and beautiful finish, a lovely addition t the garden!
