I have tried to grow herbs in my kitchen for years without success, as the table they are on is in a very sunny position and they always dry up or I overwater them. I have had this product for about a year and it has worked perfectly. At the moment I have basil, thyme, mint and chives in there. I am no gardener, but I would say the key to success with this pot is to ensure that the webbing is thoroughly wet when you start and that its 4 "legs" are down as far as they can be into the water, make sure that the 4 individual pots are totally filled to the bottom with compost with no air pockets.
I have absolutely no complaints at all about this product. I read the instructions, and filled 3 of the 4 pots with growing mint 2 weeks ago, I haven't watered it since and the soil is still moist. It works really well and looks funky too (which is the reason I bought it, I assumed it's watering feature wouldn't work after reading the other reviews). I suspect the problem other people had is they didn't press the soil down to make it air-tight. I love it and would highly recommend it to others!
When I saw this I thought it would be the answer to the problem of herbs in my kitchen, keeping them all in the same place and watering them automatically, stopping me under/over watering them. However, though it looks good, I'm still having to take the herb pots out and plunge them into water to keep them sufficiently damp to keep them alive, this is despite there being plenty of water in the reservoir. I can't fault the looks of it, but couldn't recommend it.
It's not nice to find out one of our products was not suitable but we'll do our best to straighten things up. We'll be in touch shortly to help.
I purchased two of these herb pots, one for myself and one for my son. Unfortunately even though there is plenty of water in the reservoir the plants are not able to get enough moisture with out taking the pots out and soaking them. This defeats the object of buying the self watering pots to keep my herbs watered while away at the weekend. My son is also disappointed as he is busy with his job and loves to come home a cook with fresh herbs.
We were sorry to learn that you had been disappointed in the self-watering herb pot. We'll be in touch to help you.
