"Quite Useful" star star star star_border star_border I found these useful for watering in the morning. With the spike adjusted to minimum it does rake a few hours for half a bottle (1 litre of a 2 litre bottle) to run out. So it is a way of getting water to the roots slowly. Bit it wouldn't work for holidays
"NormieM" star star star_border star_border star_border I bought these thinking I would be able to provide water for my plants while I was away. The water just runs out even with the valve fully engaged. When I took them out of the soil the valve stays in and is impossible to locate - a complete waste of money. support_agent A note from the team Thanks for taking the time to write your review. "OK as an easy watering system" star star star_border star_border star_border The idea of having a reservoir of water in situ in my garden pots really appealed to me so I didn't have to worry if I missed a day or two of watering. However, these spikes are not good as a "holiday" watering system as the water just drains out of them straight away - even when I totally soaked a pot through so that, in theory, there was no demand by the plant for water at that moment. I adjusted the outlet hole to the smallest it could go too, but to no avail. What they are good for is applying water directly to the root system of your potted plants, good for avoiding messes and splashes, good for people who can't carry heavy watering cans as it will fit even the smallest standard pop or water bottle (500ml is a good size both for weight and a smallish pot) and is a good way to apply diluted, liquid feed well into the root system. So I am happy to use them as a mess free, direct watering system, but I would not recommend as a "holiday" watering system. If others have found the same problem with these spikes, maybe the item description should be changed to reflect this?I have since found and tried a watering system which uses terracotta cones pushed into the soil and they do seem to work as an "on demand"/"holiday" watering system. Maybe Lakeland's testers could have a look at these as a viable slow, watering system? support_agent A note from the team I'm sorry you've had such difficulties with the adjustable bottle top waterers. We'll be in touch shortly to put things right for you. We will also pass on your suggestion.
"blocked hole" star star_border star_border star_border star_border These are a great idea but the hole is so small the water didn't come out gradually as hoped, even when opened fully. One of them became blocked by the soil. The water in the bottle stood for 2 weeks while we were on holiday. Ended up in bin. support_agent A note from the team Thank you placing your review and for allowing us discuss this with you.
"disappointing" star star_border star_border star_border star_border I bought some of these last summer when I went away on holiday and they did not work the water filtered out way too quick. support_agent A note from the team Thanks for placing your review.
