Hedgehogs: stop here!' A real friend to the gardener, hedgehogs provide a natural form of pest control, keeping down the insect population, as well as slugs and snails, allowing your veg and plants to prosper. Offering them this attractive wicker shelter gives them good reason to 'move in' to your garden – it's a refuge if threatened, a place to sleep safely during the day, and a real luxury when hibernating. You'll also have one of Britain's most loveable wild creatures just outside your window.

"Not just for hedgehogs!"

I bought this a couple of years ago to spoil our local hedgehog population. However, when it arrived I realised just who this was really for - my rabbit! He is a medium sized bunny and has loved this little house. Used as a shade from sunny days; a 'castle' to become king of and as a tasty snack when wanting something to gnaw on! It is now on its last legs, my rabbit having managed to chew through the 'roof'! I think it is good value for money and will be looking at buying again this year.

I have had a Hedgehog hibernating in my Hedgehog House over winter. I covered it with a dustbin bag leaving the entrance clear and placing it under conifer trees.I found it full of dead leaves and the Hedgehog snuggled up in the corner.

"Not Best Quality"

Received the Hedgehog house today, ordered as a present for my Gran, I was expecting it to come boxed but it didnt, the quality is not brilliant it does not sit flat on the floor and some of the wicker is sticking out and is spiky where it has been bent around the corners. But I guess that is why it is cheaper than all of the similar products on the market. All said I am sure that the hedgehogs wont mind any of this.

As a hedgehog carer and a member of the British Hedgehog Preservation Society this item, while possibly suitable as a summer daytime refuge, is most definitely not suitable as a hibernation home for hedgehogs without substantial alterations (complete waterproofing for one). It is however a wonderful sunshine refuge for guinea pigs although, in due course, they will eat most of it as they like willow. In no way shape or form is this suitable (in Winter) for hedgehogs to hibernate. Hedgehogs are at serious risk in the Uk of dying out. If you love/like hogs go here: http://www.hedgehoghelp.co.uk/

support_agent A note from the team

Thank you for placing your review. It's always a pleasure to understand how we can help our little garden friends survive in the wintertime and your feedback is most welcome. We understand in the wild hedgehogs nests are mostly made of leaves, grass and various other plants but are not always 100% waterproof. The Hedgehog House that we sell will be a great place for wild hedgehogs to adopt as their home over winter if they find that it is in a suitable location. Favourite sites seem to be under hedges and roots of trees, in piles of brushwood, inside compost heaps or in old rabbit burrows and underneath timber buildings and sheds.
