We’re all trying to do our bit to reduce the amount of rubbish that goes to landfill, so Joseph Joseph have created this Compo 4 Food Waste Bin to help us separate compostable food waste from non-recyclable items. Neat and discreet, it comes with a bespoke bracket so you can stash it out of sight in a cupboard, but the neutral colour won’t offend the eye if you decide to keep it out on your kitchen worktop.
In-cupboard door mount included
Because not everyone wants their compost caddy out on display, the design team at Joseph Joseph has created a simple-to-fix mount so you can tuck this little food waste bin inside the cupboard under the sink – close to where it’s needed but out of sight. Simple to lift off its mount when you need it, the slimline profile of the Compo Caddy doesn’t hog precious cupboard space and it’s really easy to hook back in place when its job is done.
Wide flip-top lid
With a wide, easy-access flip-top lid and a strong carry handle, it’s easy to scrape leftovers from dinner plates or slide fruit and veg trimmings into it from chopping boards. The lid is removable, so it’s easy to take it out to the compost heap or outdoor food waste bin and simple to empty when you get there. The deep rim keeps liners neatly in place if you use them and hides any overhanging edges.
Ventilated design
A simple vent lets air circulate to reduce moisture build-up and odours when open and keeps insects out when closed – so if you have it sitting on your worktop for a spell in the summer you don’t have to worry about it attracting flies.
The wipe-clean polypropylene body is super-easy to clean if you don’t use liners, but a we offer a choice of compostable caddy liners if you prefer to keep all the food waste contained.

This little compost bin is a perfect size to fit on my work space when preparing veg and is inconspicuous on the floor when not in use. We do not have room in our cupboards to hang it up. The lid is designed to hold the liner in place and the air vent is a good idea too.
This product is thought out very well The cupboard door attachment allows the caddy box to hook on in such away that when the lid is lifted it stays up rather than falling closed Attaching the hook to the door can be tricky as not to inhibit the lower part of the sink or cupboard sides Because the caddy is 11 inches wide there is NO chance of scrapping waste food off dinner plates for it to land on the floor as the plate virtually fits into the bin Brilliant And the top third of the bin lifts off to trap the caddy liner in place Neat and well thought out product Well done Lakeland
At first I wasn't sure if this would be worth the extra expense, but after a couple of weeks at-home use I'm a convert. I love the fact that it's off the kitchen counter and hidden inside a cupboard door, the lid is very easy to get on and off, and the hanging slot feels very sturdy. Not only that, but the lid stays put when opened - no need to hold it. Plus, the extra width really does make scraping leftover food from plates much easier. We've been using the caddy with great success.
I wasn't sure that I had ordered the right thing, to be honest, in that it seemed rather small. However, I've completely changed my mind! It's so useful to have as a worktop food bin and so very easy to maintain it's cleanliness. I would definitely recommend it, that's for sure!
