Joseph Joseph® Garlic Crusher Green

I couldn't disagree more with the previous review. It is by far the best and strongest crusher I have used and its two part construction makes it so easy to clean. In fact I have just ordered three more to give to family and friends!

After my previous garlic crusher died (the hinge dowel kept falling out) I thought I'd never find another as good. Well this is even better. Not only does it fit more garlic cloves in so all crushed in one go but it cleans quickly and well with minimum fuss. The solid two pieces are easy to wash and no risk of breakage as no hinge to break. The only piece of this brand I own as think they are all pricey but this essential tool had to be top quality for me and has proven to be so. You do need a bit of strength to crush it but I'm fine with it. Even crushes unpeeled garlic beautifully.

I ordered this to replace my Lakeland garlic press, which performed well but had a fragile finish. This one, by Joseph Joseph, is extremely disappointing. Although it says it's for unpeeled cloves, I have found that unless you peel the clove, more than half of it gets left behind and has to be dug out with a knife. And the fact that it comes apart, which is meant to be a plus, is actually annoying and inconvenient, because the whole thing keeps falling apart. I am going to have to write this one off and re-order the Lakeland press after all, and just hope the finish holds up better this time

I have quite a lot of the Joseph Joseph range and usually I'm a huge fan, but on this occasion I am most certainly not. Firstly, the handheld unit is on the heavy side. On trying to crush the garlic, I physically could not and had to ask my husband! Of which he even found it extremely hard to push down on. We tried unpeeled cloves which was near on impossible, and also peeled cloves which did after some effort did work. Unit is definitely not as described. Will be taking back asap.
