Flip it over and the smooth side is a brilliant chopping board. When ordering, I did wonder if it would be worth the money, but I have been delighted with it and it is the best carving/chopping board I have had.

Well it is just a little bit smarter than the standard wooden version, sturdy, taking up no more space than a "normal" board yet not allowing juices of the roast or fruits to flow all over the work surface. Hopefully the durability will be there but time will tell.

The worst thing about soup making is chopping the carrots into round slices (my preference!). On a normal board they escape. They roll all over the floor and the working surface. In short, they drive me mad. This board 100% solves the problem. They roll to the back of the board and the raised edge stops them getting any further. Genius. Two small drawbacks. The plastic isn't as forgiving as wood to chop on so it's slightly harder work. And it is very noisy to use; odd but true. But it's worth it for the control it gives my carrots!
