They’re very trendy at the moment, which makes bought ones really expensive but, after a good testing, we’re happy to say that they’re surprisingly easy to make at home with this kit. To ensure neat rounds, the silicone baking sheet has ridges to keep your piped mixture in place, and there are dozens of recipes to try... As a gift for bakers, we think ‘c’est magnifique’!

"Complicated & Slightly Disappointing"

Macarons are some of my favourite French treats and I saw the macaron gift set and knew I had to have it. There are several flaws however. The silicon mat is too big for my oven, even putting it on a grill tray, it is simply too long in length and I do not want to have to cut in in half. The recipe for French style macarons does not explain very well the recipe, quite hard to follow. The piping bag and stand are good, but very messy to refil. Despite the flaws, I was glad to finally have a go at making the treats, but it was a more stressful than enjoyable process.

"Not non stick sheet"

I can only say so so disappointed, firstly the sheet was too large for my trays but put it on bottom shelf of my oven which is removable. However the excess mixture I put on a brand named glide sheet came out perfectly the ones on the silicone sheet enclosed stuck therefore no macaroons for Christmas. The instructions in part I found vague. I bought the set to use at Christmas wish I had tried it sooner as I would have returned for a refund.

"Very disappointing; cannot recommend"

I received this kit as a gift for my 30th. I was initially very excited and as the kit is beautifully presented. Regrettably, however, I really am disappointed. As others have said, the baking sheet is simply too large for most ovens and wont fit in mine. The only solution is to half-fill the sheet, but this causes in a fan oven, the sheet to lift and the macaroons to run. Cutting the sheet seems such a waste. Price vs quality is simply not there and the book is clearly a translation and at times unclear. Such a shame. It would be far cheaper to buy items seperately of better quality.

Hi! Like like the others I found the mat to be too big to fit on a baking tray, although it does fit in my oven. I have also found the French meringue recipe to be confusing. One is told to add egg whites to the dry ingredients and then later to 'Add the sifted POWDERS to the meringue and gently pour them into the mixture.' At this stage should the icing sugar/almond mix still be a powder or is it already mixed with the non-beaten egg whites? I enjoy baking - and a challenge - so will make no harsh comments until I have mastered the macaroons.

They buyer who tested this has passed on the following info: Sift the icing sugar and the almond powder together then add 2 of the egg whites from the batch which you have prepared the day before. You then beat the remaining egg whites into fluffy clouds and then add the almond/icing sugar/2 egg white mixture to the clouds. We hope this helps.

"Disappointing!"

I was really looking forward to trying this but have to say it was a complete waste of money. Firstly, the piping bag is too small and it's messy to keep refilling. And secondly, the mat is too large to place on a baking tray. Tried putting it directly on to the oven shelf as suggested, but you have to remove the shelf to do this, then you have to angle the shelf to put it back in so the mixture slides off.
