Lakeland Electric 1L Yogurt Maker

Product number: 3440

Home-made yogurt is twice as nice and half the price of shop bought, and surprisingly simple to make. Create up to 1 litre of delicious, healthy yogurt in just 8 hours with our economical, electric yogurt maker that costs just pennies to run.

What is Yogurt?

Yogurt can be made from any type of milk and is a live milk product that reproduces itself in warm conditions. All you need to get started is a couple of spoons of natural, live yogurt and the correct temperature for production.

How to Use the Yogurt Maker

Firstly choose your milk – slimmers can save calories with skimmed, and with whole milk, results will be deliciously thick and creamy every time. If dairy is a no go then you can even use soya milk.

Once you have chosen your milk and prepared it, simply add 2 teaspoons of live, unflavoured, natural yogurt to the machine and gradually stir in 900ml of milk. Turn the yogurt maker on and leave it undisturbed for 8 hours. The temperature is maintained at 40-47°C for optimum production.

After 8 hours turn the machine off, lift out the inner bowl and allow to cool. You will have a litre of perfect, healthy yogurt with no additives or preservatives that will keep in the fridge for up to 5 days.

If you make yogurt on a regular basis save a couple of spoonful’s each time you make it and use it to start your next batch.

Serving Suggestions

Enjoy straight from the fridge or as a healthy snack with fruit or to top muesli. You can add flavourings such as milkshake powder, pureed fruit or vanilla extract. If you want to add flavourings do this once your yogurt is made as flavourings can inhibit the incubation process.

Your yogurt can even be transformed into herby dips or a base for salad dressing by adding chopped herbs or garlic or ground spices.

A full instruction leaflet is included and features hints, tips and serving suggestions.

"Lakeland Electric 1L Yogurt Maker"

When my Lakeland Electric 1L yogurt Maker stopped working I had to get another one, so I went back to Lakeland and was told if I bought my old one back they would replace it.I like the idea of making my own, it's easy to do and you can add what ever you like knowing it is all good stuff going in. Thumbs up to Lakeland, Solihull. Jacqui Solihull.

"Yogurt maker flex"

star star star_border star_border star_border

I have had this yogurt maker for a couple of years. It is very good but one, thing I find infuriating about it is the very short flex. Why? It has to be right up against the electrical point and it drives me mad. Make the flex longer!!

support_agent A note from the team

We're sorry to hear you've been disappointed with the flex length of this product. We've checked this for you and understand this yoghurt maker does have a 2ft 11" flex, any longer may mean it would trail and be a safety issue. We hope that this clarifies.

I bought this yogurt maker about one month and think it is a good product and makes excellent yoghurt especially with long life milk. However I do agree with other comments that the spoon is pointless and the ridge in the pot for the spoon is a bad design for cleaning and taking up space. I also think the recipe provided should be adjusted to say 1 litre of milk rather then .75ml. If you use long life milk it comes in litre cartons and there is no point in not using it all. It will fit in the tub and if that ridge was removed it would fit even better.

Whilst researching making homemade yogurt using Easiyo/other yogurt-making sachets, my search-engine brought up details of this Electric Yogurt Maker at Lakeland and with an amazing half-price offer! After I read the reviews for the Yogurt Maker I decided to ditch the sachets and buy said item as it would be better value for money. I made my 1st batch yesterday after carefully following the instructions and recommendations and have not been disappointed with the results! I look forward to tweaking my recipe and making lots of homemade, fat/sugar and preservative free yogurt in the future :o)

"Pity about the shape"

My daughter gave me this for Christmas and I use it all the time. However it would be so much better is it didn’t have the silly moulding, that it takes a useless spoon. It makes it much harder to scrape out the pot and to washout. There is also a useless bit on the top to say what time you put it on. I can’t help thinking that someone thought, how can we justify the price of this, we will add these two extra things. The moulding for the spoon is really annoying, the time indicator is not offensive, I have thrown away the spoon.
