At first the beans went all over the place. I bought a large washing up bowl put the bean slicer in the bowl placed a tea towel under the bowl and the problem was solved.
I have been looking for something like this for years - good on Lakeland for finding it! It is well made. It is almost impossible to collect the cut beans neatly. I just hold it in my hand over a saucepan and turn the handle. I can cut a good amount for a family of six in literally 5 minutes. It's wonderful and so easy to use. I do not know where the rust mentioned comes into it. I love it.
If the slicer is washed in hot soapy water and dried quickly, it will not rust, it is brilliant !
Excellent bean slicer, don't listen to the above reviews, it has good suction and ours shows no sign of rust. What did you think it was made of? We've used it for 2 seasons and it is still going strong, saves an awful lot of time and makes short work of our crop.
Slices runner beans quickly and efficiently. Sticks fast to a chopping board and easy to rinse clean. Surprised being discontinued although original price of £23.99 too expensive for the number of times I would use it!
