"Vanishing numbers"

I bought this thermometer in May this year, around six months ago, and have used it over the summer for jam making. I went to make jam yesterday, and realised that all of the numbers below around 120 c had disappeared. The steel is unmarked. I washed it after having immersed it in jam, and even just a gentle wipe with a cloth seemed to remove the numbers quite easily. There is no use for a thermometer without the measure marks. I have since checked this same product on other sites, where similar problems have been reported.

"I thought Tala was a reliable make"

I was initially very pleased with this thermometer and it worked wonderfully for my double batch of marmalade. However, when I was putting it away after washing it I noticed that the numbers are disappearing - a thermometer without numbers on it is not a lot of use... So unfortunately I can't recommend this item.

"Printed thermometer marks"

We had the same problem as the other poster - the print disappears after a couple of years - and we only use it 1-2 times year. I drilled a small hole in the metal and use that as a guide now the print is gone.
