If you’ve got a lot of cupcakes or a tall celebration cake to take to a bake sale or party, you could buy a huge cake caddy and then wonder where and how you’re going to store it. Or you could get this Collapsible Cupcake & Cake Carrier, which squishes down to half its ‘normal’ height when you’re done with it, so it’s much easier to find a place for it in your cupboards.
This is clever. Inside the outer see-through shell (just to whet your appetite) is a 2-tier cake stand, with holes in the ‘plates’ that hold 12 cupcakes each – so you can make a massive batch of 24 fairy cakes or muffins and there’ll be room for them all. Just unclip the base of the caddy and lift off the outer shell using the handle, and ta-dah! You’re left with an instant cupcake stand that’ll grace any bake sale or friend’s dining table.
And if you’ve got an impressive celebration cake topped with fancy decorations, just remove the 2-tier stand and place your bake on the base plate – it’ll comfortably hold cakes up to 30cm wide and 20cm tall.
When it’s time to store – this is the fun bit – the blue panel in the middle squishes down so the top half of the caddy nestles neatly in the bottom half. (Just remember to dismantle the stand inside first.)

Not a patch on our previous two tier collapsible cake carrier. I don’t like the way it extends, & the shape it extends to. I suppose if we made more cupcakes it might be handy, but we don’t. We only bought this because I didn’t see any like our original carrier when we needed an alternative.

Purchased to transport cupcakes for Platinum Jubilee celebrations, and it worked a treat in our cake sale as it was able to be a display piece as well. The second tier is a littlle fiddly to put up, but once up it held the whole day despite several enthusiastic children coming by. It worked well.

I have never written a review before, but I was so pleased with this product. I used this carrier over Easter to transport 24 Easter cupcakes (topped with buttercream and miniature Easter eggs). After my journey into work (walking, a train journey then a bus ride) all, to my surprise, remained intact due to the secure compartments for the cupcakes (muffin cases also used) and a very secure and sturdy lid. Also a great storage design.
