If you’re planning a bake-to-give Christmas, a round of festive tea parties, or you’d like to give chocolate making a go, this 2-Piece Silicone Star Mould is a brilliantly simple way to wow your friends and family – helping you to turn out tasty treats time after time with impressive results. It makes 42 double-layered stars, so you can try making your own filled chocolate box flavours, bake an array of celestial cookies or get creative with cheesecakes and bite-size puddings.
Easy-to-make bakes
As the mould is oven safe you can bake a batch of dinky biscuits, cakes or shortbread or make a fridge bake if you prefer, then add the second piece of the mould and top each star with chocolate, candy melts, mousse or cheesecake mix. The two-stage mould will ensure that your topping is perfectly in line with the base.
Easy-to-make chocolates
It’s so simple to make hollow chocolate shapes... Simply melt your choice of chocolate – we’ve found the better the quality of chocolate, the better the results – and brush a thin layer around each shape in the mould, leaving to set in the fridge. Brush on several additional layers, allowing time to set for each repetition, before adding your filling (try chocolate ganache or salted caramel) and pouring on a little more chocolate to seal the top before adding the upper part of the mould and topping off with a different type of chocolate, or colourful candy melts.
The silicone mould can withstand a huge range of temperatures from -40° up to 230°C. Safe for use in your freezer, conventional oven or microwave and easy to clean in the sink or the top rack of your dishwasher.
Tempering chocolate
To ensure your chocolates and chocolate-topped treats have that professional-looking sheen and stay looking good for longer, you will need to temper your chocolate. This stops the cocoa fat from separating, preventing that dull grey ‘bloomed’ finish and meaning the chocolate shrinks slightly when set for an easy release from the mould.
