Coqopan 2-Part Vertical Chicken Roasting Tin

Product number: 32405

A clever adaptation of an old barbecue trick, the Coqopan 2-Part Roasting Tin combines the convenience of oven cooking with the ‘beer-can’ chicken recipe that’s beloved of many a barbecue chef. Guaranteed to keep the meat moist as it cooks, roast chicken needn’t just be a weekend treat in the future as, in this oven tray, the oven’s heat can reach every part of the bird so it will be ready almost twice as fast as cooking a standard roast chicken!

Not only does the Coqopan reduce cooking time by around 50% compared with conventional roasting – saving on energy costs – every aspect of the Coqopan has been carefully thought about to make your life easier… Its creator has even made sure that the tray is narrow enough to fit another alongside it in the oven, so roast potatoes or veggies can be cooked alongside at the same time.

How it works

  • First, remove the uppermost shelves from your oven and preheat as normal.
  • Pour water, stock, wine or beer – and add any herbs, spices or vegetables that take your fancy – into the flat-bottomed roasting tray and place the ‘lid’ on top.
  • Arrange your bird on top of the cone so that it’s ‘sitting’ inside the edges of the tray, and pop it straight into the oven – there’s no need to let the bird warm to room temperature, no need cover the bird, and no need to baste it while cooks.

Providing 360° cooking inside and outside the bird, the liquid underneath will steam the meat from inside as it roasts, flavouring and cooking it from within while the dry oven heat cooks the outside. Moisture loss is reduced by around 25% compared to normal roasting, so the breast meat will stay deliciously moist, and all the tasty juices are collected in the upper level of the pan to be used for making traditional gravy.

Big enough to cook poultry up to approx. 1.8kg in weight.

Please note: we recommend using a meat thermometer to check that any poultry is cooked through.

About Coqopan’s inventor

A pianist by trade, Roger Davison, loves a perfectly cooked roast chicken – but being unable to find a roasting tin that would help him to cook his favourite Sunday roast in the way he wanted – he’s invented his own!

As seen on the Channel 4 TV show, Buy it Now. We’re continuing to work with Roger and hope to bring the Coqopan to market in late spring 2020.

"It works!"

star star star star star

Given as a present. I cooked a 1.4k chicken for 38 mins and the result was excellent, much juicier than the cooked supermarket chickens. I won't be buying any of those again! An unexpected advantage for a keen, but elderly cook, is that I only had to bend down twice - one to put it in the oven, and once to take it out. Also, you cook the chicken from fridge temperature. Highly recommended.

"It does indeed work, briliantly!"

Yes, the pan has raving reviews all over the internet, but one is still not sure - could it be that foolproof and simple? Do I need another kitchen gadget? I am so glad I bought it. A 1.6kg chicken made to perfection in 45 minutes. We had it last night. After dinner I sat down and ordered three more pans as gifts. That's how tasty the chicken was. The only small drawback is that it doesn't come in a fancy box, which is perfectly fine if you buy one for yourself, but I want to give the three of them away. Still excellent purchase!

"Quick and juicy"

It certainly cooks quickly with juicy results, but suspect some of this is down to shorter cooking times, I’m not sure if there’s much beer flavour getting into the bird. Cons: bird does not look pretty when it comes off, a pain to store due to shape, can’t use on barbecue. But overall I like.
