Christmas Bauble Chocolate Mould - Makes 4 Hollow Baubles

Product number: 32261

Hung on the tree with a sweet surprise inside, or wrapped and gifted as a chunky solid globe… this Christmas Bauble Chocolate Mould turns out a quartet of seasonal spheres with lovely embossed detail, perfect for decorating the tree, sticking in a stocking, handing round as party favours or serving up as a festive sweet treat.

Easy-to-make Christmas baubles

You don’t need any special skills to use this mould – especially if you’re making solid chocolate spheres. Just melt your chosen chocolate, pour it into each mould until they’re full, then put them in the fridge until they’ve cooled and set hard. To stick the halves together, brush a little more melted chocolate over one flat side, press firmly together, then replace in the fridge until set.

If you want to make hollow chocolate shells to fill with sweets or chocs like mini piñatas, ‘paint’ a layer of melted chocolate onto each mould, leave to set, then repeat until you’ve built up a thick enough shell to safely hold whatever you want to put inside. Once you’ve added your sweets to one half, melt the rim of the other half by resting it briefly on the bottom of a hot pan, then stick the halves together.

Decorative embossed detail

Each mould features a different festive design – snowman, snowflake, Christmas tree and gingerbread man – that ends up as lovely embossed detail on the outside of your bauble. Bring them out of their chocolate shell by filling them with a different colour chocolate from the rest of the bauble, or by brushing over a little edible lustre for a sparkly magical touch.

"Hot choc bombs!"

star star star star star

Bought as Lakeland had run out of hot chocolate bombs, made 4 with layers of chocolate then added some hot choc powder and marshmallows. Put in cup and pour over hot milk. Daughter loves them. They weren’t perfect and the hardest bit is sticking together without the powder escaping!

"Great Little Treat"

These were a great idea, they make great edible baubles that the ELF has left for the kids

"Chocolate baubles"

My first attempt at chocolate moulding.I used candy melts, using a brush to spread thin layers. The second batch I used a spoon and found this quicker and smother for getting the chocolate to the bottom of the mould. The tricky part is getting them together. Trim the excess chocolate and stick together with melted chocolate, filling gaps. Take care your chocolate is not too hot or it will melt the moulds! Also I found it useful to keep my bowl of melted chocolate over a pan of hot water otherwise it would set between layering up the moulds. Quite fiddly and a lot of effort and patience needed.

"Not easy but worth the effort"

These are such a great idea but you need to persist to get a good result. I found getting the mould to release the shells was difficult so I asked for further advice from Lakeland and they advised leaving the mould in the freezer for a short time before trying to remove. This certainly helped. The very best results were obtained with tempering the chocolate first and then they would easily release by tapping gently on the worktop, giving a lovely shiny perfect finish. They also make a stunning dessert filled with white chocolate mousse and raspberry puree over the top

I was really looking forward to making these but getting them out of the mould is very difficult. Half of them broke getting them out. I had 30 to make and it has taken ages. Usually use a silicone mould with better effect but chose these for the Christmas theme
