I used good quality paste and didn't have any problem with the cutters or flowers sticking, I agree they may not be as robust as some but I feel they are fine for use once a year. I just wish they had been a bit bigger it would have been nice to have one big poppy on each cupcake. They looked good on the day and that is what mattered.
I used these for cutting fondant icing and whilst the poppy shapes are very effective, the quality of the plastic used for the cutter itself is poor. The plunging spring part of the cutter wobbles and icing got stuck up around the spring between the cutter and the plunging shape that moves down and I had to use a cocktail stick to remove it. I love the poppy designs but feel the more usual plunging design of having the spring encased and the circular base would be better, as overall I do not feel confident that they are robust enough to stand the test of time.
I bought these as poppies are my favourite flowers, they look nice however, the spring does not spring back into the cutter properly so they do not work as they should, very hit and miss - more miss than hit in fact also one of the small ones does not work at all. Not up to Lakelands usual quality.
