I had been looking for a kettle with a separate lid that could be removed, and this kettle fits the bill perfectly. It looks good in my kitchen and I'm very happy with it.
Am very pleasantly surprised by this kettle. A good size and, even when full, it's fairly lightweight, well balanced and very easy to hold and pour - great for my arthritic hands. The lid detaches completely which is easy for filling and cleaning. It boils quickly. The only negative is that it is slightly noisier than our previous kettles but I'm happy to put up with that for the benefits it has. Great value for the price.
I have been a regular Lakeland customer for many years and this is the first product that has disappointed me. It boils quickly, if rather noisily. First negative is that the water level gauge is hidden behind the black handle and is virtually impossible to read. Secondly, once the kettle has boiled, if you need a quick refill you will find the lid is virtually impossible to remove for around 10 minutes. The designer forgot to check that different metals expand at a different rate. The lid is rather ‘tinny’ so I assume it gets ‘gripped’ by the quality body. A larger lid handle might help.
