Samuel Groves Mermaid Hard Anodised Baking Tray
Product number: 27042
There’s nothing worse than buying a brand new baking tray, only to find that it bends and buckles in the oven. Well, thanks to the anodising process this Samuel Groves Mermaid Baking Tray has been through, the aluminium surface is sealed and hardened to make it extra durable and help it withstand temperatures up to 240°C.
A top quality tin for top quality bakes
Loved by professional chefs and budding bakers alike, this hard-anodised tin is a great heat conductor, heating up quicker than your average baking tin. And because it distributes heat evenly throughout the aluminium body, you can look forward to perfectly cooked food every single time.
More than meets the eye
We know you like your baking tins to look the part, even if it doesn’t affect how well your bakes turn out – or does it? The smooth satin finish achieved during the anodising process isn’t just there to look pretty – although it does that too of course – it actually seals and hardens the outer layer, giving it an easy-release, easy-clean surface that won’t peel or rust.
Strong and durable
The surface of the tin actually improves over time as it builds up a layer of naturally non-stick patina – makes a change from the ‘non-stick’ tins of old, many of which start to lose their non-stick layers over time. Strong, sturdy and durable, you can count on this tin not to buckle or warp. And although it might sound heavy – given its heavy-duty qualities – it’s surprisingly lightweight, making it easy to retrieve from the oven.
Chemical-free coating
The coating doesn’t feature any PTFE or POFA, so it’s always safe to use. And as an added eco bonus, the packaging is 100% sustainable.
Lifetime manufacturer’s guarantee.
About Mermaid Bakeware
Manufactured in Birmingham to the highest standard, Samuel Groves’ Mermaid tins are used and adored by some of the UK’s most-loved professional chefs – and once you learn a thing or two about the company’s heritage, it’s easy to see why.
After setting up shop in 1817 to make brass candlesticks – yes you read the date correctly! – Samuel Groves moved into making electroplated teapots and trays, and established themselves as a significant exporter in the early 1900s. In the 1950s they introduced the Mermaid brand, which has remained a staple in British bakeware ever since. Known for their high quality and ability to make consistently great bakes in a reduced amount of time, these tins are everything a home baker could wish for.
To this day, every product Samuel Groves produces is hand-finished and many of the skills and techniques used back in the 1800s are still being used in their factory today – well, 200 years’ of experience is hard to argue with.
