Samuel Groves Britannia Cast Iron Double Burner Griddle

Product number: 26922

When cooking a full-English fry-up, it’s only fitting to have a British-made pan to get the job done properly. Made in Birmingham, this Cast Iron Double Burner Griddle from Samuel Groves’ Britannia range is just the thing for giving your food that desired chargrilled taste and professional-looking finish.

Versatile

Suitable for cooking on virtually any cooking surface, this versatile pan is great for cooking indoors and out. From electric, ceramic, gas and induction hobs, to ovens, barbecues and open fires, we can’t think of many ways you can’t use it to cook. Because it’s cast iron, it retains heat really well and distributes it evenly throughout the body to avoid any hot spots to make sure whatever you rustle up gets cooked consistently every time. And it’s even been pre-seasoned, so it’s ready to use straight from the box as soon as you get it home.

A pan for life

Manufactured in the heart of the industrial midlands, you know it’s built to last. Made from cast iron, with a large ridged surface for that chargrilled look and taste, and a smaller flat surface for cooking eggs, mushrooms and veg, it’s virtually indestructible, so you’ll never have to buy another one. Not only will it save you money, but it also means you can cook with confidence, knowing you have a pan you can rely on not to warp, dent, chip or break. And if for any reason it does become damaged, fear not – it’s covered with a lifetime manufacturer’s guarantee for peace of mind, so it really is a pan for life.

Ergonomic handles

Like most people, you probably don’t give much thought to the handles of your pans – but most pans don’t have handles that are specially designed to be the perfect length for ideal weight distribution, like this one has. Made from stainless steel, the riveted handles are ergonomically designed for greater comfort for when carrying the pan to and from the table and around the kitchen.

Protective bag

Although it’s basically indestructible, it’s still important to take good care of your pan in order to get the most out of it and help it last as long as possible. That’s why this one comes in a beautiful hessian bag to keep it safe from any bumps and bashes it would otherwise get in a cupboard full of heavy cooking equipment. And because the bags themselves look so attractive, you can even hang them up on display to give your kitchen a lovely rustic feel.

Naturally non-stick

Over time, the pan will build up a thin layer of patina – a natural result of the metal ageing which helps make it virtually non-stick. That means no burnt bits stuck to the surface so it’s easier to cook with and quicker to clean afterwards, without the need to soak, scrub and repeat.

Lifetime manufacturer’s guarantee.

About Samuel Groves

Manufactured in Birmingham to the highest standard, Samuel Groves pans are used and adored by professional and home chefs across the country – and once you learn a thing or two about the company’s heritage, it’s easy to see why. After setting up shop in 1817 to make brass candlesticks – yes you read the date correctly! – Samuel Groves moved into making electroplated teapots and trays, and established themselves as a significant exporter in the early 1900s. After moving into larger premises in 1965, they expanded their interests in cookware, bakeware, hollowware and utensils.

To this day, every product Samuel Groves produces is hand-finished, and many of the skills and techniques used back in the 1800s are still being used in their factory today – well, 200 years’ of experience is hard to argue with.

"Not a great product"

star star_border star_border star_border star_border

This product is extremely heavy first off. I know it’s cast iron but it seems excessive. The ‘patena’ that is mentioned was rust on the product I received and it’s also much smaller than the pictures suggest. In my opinion, given the price, the item represents very poor value for money, even as a treat to yourself, which mine was! On delivery one of the handles was detached from the product. The outer boxes were undamaged and neither was the outer wrapping of the product itself so I assume it left the factory like it. Item was seamlessly returned!
