Drains and collects excess water
The white inner basket is perforated so any excess water will drip through it, draining your food, helping to keep it fresh and preventing any unwanted sogginess – and there’ll be no puddles on your fridge shelves either, as the water will be caught by the solid, transparent outer basket.
Acts as a colander and water reservoir
The inner basket lifts straight out of the outer basket and can serve as a colander, so you can use it to rinse your food before cooking or serving. The vents in the top of the lid can be opened and closed to allow more airflow, further ensuring the freshness of your food. And if you pour a little water into the bottom of the transparent outer basket, it acts as a reservoir to help prevent herbs and salad from drying out prematurely.

The these boxes are amazing at keeping a wide range of foods fresh. Even soft fruits like strawberries or raspberries last all week. They’re also useful when washing fruit or veg then using the inner box as a drainer
Am I doing something wrong? I bought this with a plan. Salad would be cheaper, fresher and last a lot longerer. My fresh salad lasted 2 days before all the leaves were brown and the skies were grey. I also have a large OXO salad saver, which works well but takes up too much space.This item just about fits between bottom and first shelf. Admittedly, no air flow. I also didn't have the vents open, as didn't want other foods to effect. Do I need to add water to the outer container? I do dry the leaves in either colander or spinner. I use just leaves, no juicy veg until serving.

Wish I had read the previous reviews sooner, would have discovered that these cannot be put in a dishwasher. First time I tried recently, disaster!! Not a single symbol anywhere (although I thoroughly checked the tubs) to say don't put in a dishwasher and I no longer had any packaging to check. Assumed it was OK, big mistake!! Both of the clear tubs have significantly warped to a point that I can no longer fit the lids on and is really tight for the inner baskets too. Extremely annoyed, who these days do not put symbols on their products for safe usage? Lakeland need to address this issue.
We'd always advise "dishwasher safe" or "hand wash only" on the packaging, but this wouldn't be necessarily be moulded onto the product.
Washed item in dishwasher became completely distorted and unusable. Could not find it marked on product that it was not dishwasher proof. Would not purchase again.

Other products online claim similar results and have descriptions which mention that the vents would be open, closed or half- opened depending on the fruit or veg being stored. I thought Lakeland would be more trustworthy and so bought this item. I’m disappointed to find no instructions on the packaging on how to have the vents on this product. The online description mentions open vents keep food fresh but if that’s the case why can they slide open and shut? Why not just have ventilation permanently? I’ve had mixed results with the food stored and will be switching to rival products
It is because not all food would require the vents to be open but instead for the water in the base to keep the goods fresh. This is because some fruits and vegetables like a moist environment and some don’t. if you buy something from us and you're not 100% satisfied, or it is faulty, you can return it for a refund or replacement for up to 3 years – just bring along your receipt or emailed order confirmation as proof of purchase.
