Prue's World Cast Iron Dumpling Pan

Product number: 26440

Fried to a crisp golden brown on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside; bursting with savoury or sweet flavours; it’s hard to beat a stove-top dumpling when it comes to a delicious, freshly-made snack, and this Cast Iron Dumpling or Aebleskiver Pan delivers seven perfectly cooked ones at a time.

What’s an aebleskiver? A Danish snack whose name literally translates as ‘apple slices’, they’re deliciously light, fluffy, spherical pancakes, traditionally served at breakfast and cooked in a dimpled, cast iron pan just like this one. The cast iron construction ensures the heat from your hob is distributed quickly and evenly, so you can start frying up your scrumptious little spheres in moments, and the enamel non-stick coating ensures they’re released easily. Just heat on a medium to high heat, melt a little butter in each ‘dimple’, swirl to coat, then add your sweet or savoury batter. Once the edges have started to pull away from the sides, they’re ready to rotate or flip and cook a little more until they’re a gorgeous golden brown all over.

Perfect if you fancy something a little different for breakfast – you can make savoury, protein-packed eggy bites if you draw the line at eating sweet stuff first thing! – it’s also fantastic for whipping up brunch bits, afternoon snacks or sweet suppers. In a word: lækker (or delicious, if your Danish isn’t that good!).

It also comes with a fabric handle cover to help you get a more comfortable grip - just remember to remove it before you turn on your hob.

About our Prue’s World range

We tell anyone who’ll listen – we love to cook and can think of nothing better than finding creative, authentic kitchen tools that make cooking a joyful experience. So when Prue Leith approached us to collaborate on an exciting new range inspired by her trips around the world, we thought all of our birthdays had come at once!

Prue has been everywhere. She’s had an amazing life of cookery and adventure, and her culinary voyages have been a huge influence in this range’s creation. As well as being a passionate chef, founder of Leiths School of Food and Wine, TV personality, restaurateur and writer, she’s a globetrotter with a love of foods from afar, and the cookware in her own kitchen has been cherry-picked from her trips around the world.

A self-confessed Lakeland fan, Prue invited us into her home and we were like children in a sweet shop, exploring her vast, eclectic cookware kit for inspiration. Her wonderful stories behind each piece, as well as Prue’s exacting guidance, has resulted in a range that’s as interesting and colourful as Prue herself.

Prue says “I want everyone to experience the pleasure and satisfaction of producing food to share with others.” Prue tested every item herself to ensure everything worked as it should, and if something wasn’t quite right, she helped us make it perfect.

Made from attractive crushed bamboo zebra wood, ceramics and durable metals, everything in Prue’s global cookware collection is practical enough for everyday use, and will work brilliantly for all of your own culinary adventures. Accented with a pop of vibrant red, they make fabulous gifts for creative cooks, too.

Comes with recipes for Double Cheese & Spring Onion Bites with Sour Cream Dip.

Please note: suitable for gas, electric, ceramic, and halogen hobs. Pan is oven safe up to 240˚C.

"Lovely Product"

This pan couldn't be improved: it's the traditional shape and size and is made from cast iron, the best material. Season it properly: wipe the insides with a little vegetable oil and put it over medium heat until it smokes, and then let the pan smoke itself 'dry'. Repeat 2-3 times and the pan will be perfectly non-stick. Renew the seasoning, as required, but don't use abrasives or detergents to clean it: just hot water. Treat it like a carbon steel wok and you won't go wrong. There are lots of recipes, online, and Prue's sidekick, Paul Hollywood, has a decent one.

"Brilliant aebleskiver pan!"

I bought this to make an Aebleskiver recipe from a scandi cookbook and it worked so well! I use it on the smallest gas hob burner to ensure it’s stable and doesn’t need to be touched whilst it’s hot and brush each dimple (and the top of the pan) with melted butter before adding the mixture, repeating for each new batch - perfect results! I’m delighted with it, a great investment!

"Prue Leith’s Aebleskiver with Dark Chocolate Recipe"

These were delicious and the pan was perfect! I made sure that I seasoned the pan first by heating it up, spraying with cooking oil, and leaving to cool. I have to admit, flipping the aebleskiver halfway through and adding the chocolate took a little practice. I ended up adding the additional batter before I added the chocolate chips, and that really worked for me. They do take quite a bit of TLC, but are really worth it. Thanks Prue and Lakeland!

"fun canapes"

I've used this twice now, and they produced lovely little hot eggy dumplings ( almost soufflé like) perfect for mini drinks parties. I used real butter so had no sticking problems. I'm giving it 4 starts as I think the uses are limited to the recipe provided ….. I would like some recipes that aren't a soufflé type canape. I have cupboard space so don't mind a pan that only has one use.

"Not non stick"

star star star_border star_border star_border

The little bits that I salvaged were delicious, The pan stuck like mad. I tried again with nonstick spray and still they stuck, I left the pan in soak and I can't get the residue off. I am hooked on the dumplings BUT I shan't use this again.
