Sodastream Crystal Sparkling Water Maker with Gas Cylinder Megapack 5 "Great!" Miss Davison 30 March 2020 We purchased this in order to cut down on plastic bottle waste. It took a little getting used to, the water must be cold in order for enough carbon dioxide to dissolve in it. I usually fill the carbonating bottles from a water filter jug then put them in the fridge to cool before carbonating. Cooling doesn't take long as the bottles are glass. The carbonating button needs a firm press (both hands for me) until you can hear no more gas can go in. I leave it in for 30 seconds or so before removing. It's really quick and the results are great. And it has cut down on our plastic bottle use.
Sodastream Crystal Sparkling Water Maker with Gas Cylinder Megapack 1 "Disappointing performance from this soda stream" 11 March 2020 I purchased this item in the faith that i could stop buying plastic bottled sparking water. The instructions that come with the machine are not great. The first two days my daughter and i had lovely sparkling water and that was as long as the gas cylinder seemed to last. At a cost of £11.99 for the gas its very expensive to run at more than £11.99 per week. I thought if i bought the one with the bigger bottles we could share but maybe they use too much of the gas. I’m really disappointed, in fact last week i bought my usual tray of 48 bottles for under £6.00. A note from the team Many Thanks for placing your review on the Soda Stream, reference 26432. We sorry to learn the Sodastream hasn’t met your expectations. A refund can be arranged. On the whole a gas cylinder from the Sodastream should make around sixty bottles of sparkling water. To make the cylinder last longer, then always use very cold water, this is because CO2 dissolves best in Coldwater and If you carbonate room temperature water, a lot of the CO2 doesn’t dissolve instead the gas would be trapped at the top of the bottle, which then escape when you open the bottle.
