Whether you’re making yourself a healthy lunch or are having friends round and want to serve something really impressive, sushi will always fit the bill. You can’t get better – or fresher – than home-made, and though it looks as though it might be tricky to make, it’s surprisingly simple with this nifty little mould and press. Even beginners will be pleased as punch with their results!

• Dual-sided push bar with flat and rounded sides.
• Two elastic bands.
• Instruction leaflet with simple sushi recipe.

How it works

Gather the ingredients listed on the included recipe – simple things like rice, tuna, soy sauce, pickles and yummy fresh veg – and the instructions will guide you through every step, from cooking the rice to slicing and serving.

• 1. Begin by laying a sheet of nori inside the rounded inner tray.
• 2. Pop some rice in, flatten slightly using a spatula, use the straight edge of the push bar to create a groove, then add your fillings and flavourings.
• 3. Add some more rice, press into place using a spatula, fold the nori paper over and seal with a little water.
• 4. Using the push bar – rounded side down – press for a few seconds to shape your sushi roll. Leave the bar in place and refrigerate until needed – you can also wrap the elastic bands around the frame for a really firm press.
• 5. Remove the push bar and cut through the slots for perfectly even sliced sushi.

All that’s left to do then is serve it up, sit back, and wait for the exclamations of “How on earth did you make that!”. Nobody will believe you didn’t buy it from a shop!
