ZeroWater 5-Stage Water Filter Jug with Free TDS Meter 2.8L

Product number: 26312

Some water filter jugs can be too heavy for smaller members of the family to lift out of the fridge door when they’re full, so ZeroWater have created their 12-Cup 5-Stage Water Filter Jug with a clever dispensing tap that solves the problem. Brilliant for people who want their filtered water on the worktop near their kettle, it can also sit on a shelf of the fridge so that you can fill a glass direct from the one-handed, press-to-dispense tap under the handle, and if you have a large American-style fridge, the narrow pitcher can fit in your fridge door to be used like a classic water jug.

And of course, like all ZeroWater water purifying jugs it comes with one of their innovative 5-stage filters – technology that removes virtually all impurities from your tap water, to provide the purest-tasting drink possible and complete peace of mind – something that no other brand of domestic filter jug can claim.

What does it remove?

With ZeroWater, you can be sure you’re only drinking pure, unadulterated H2O because it’s proven to make tap water as pure as the most expensive bottled filtered water brands. The 5-stage filter removes virtually all ‘total dissolved solids’ from potable drinking water, including heavy metals such as lead (99.2%) and mercury (99.4%) as well as chemical compounds like nitrates and chlorine, and any added fluoride. Which is especially good news if you have ancient plumbing in your neighbourhood with lead pipes carrying your supply, as using this superb filtration system means you can rest assured that none of the nasties are going to make it into your drinking water.

Removes: Lead – Zinc – Asbestos – Copper – Chloride – Fluoride – Mercury – Radium – Chlorine - plus over 99% of microplastics exceeding 3 microns in size.

Effective 5-stage filtration process

The five-stage filtration system might seem very slow if you stand and watch it, but all good things come to those who wait! And the patented Ready-Pour lidded jug allows you to decant already filtered water while the filter is still processing what you’ve poured in at the top, so you don’t have to wait until it’s finished to benefit from the filtration.

The five stages of filtration

Once you’ve poured your water in, the filter gets to work:

  • Stage 1: Coarse filter screen – removes fine particles and sediment.
  • Stage 2: Foam distributor – spreads water across the whole filter for more effective removal.
  • Stage 3: Multi-layer filtration – with activated carbon to filter out contaminants and an oxidation alloy to remove chlorine and heavy metals.
  • Stage 4: Dual ion exchange resin – strips foreign ions from water molecules.
  • Stage 5: Ultra-fine screen and non-woven membrane layers – remove remaining ultra-fine particles.

Test the quality

Filtered water might look the same before and after filtering, but test the level of contaminants using the included laboratory-grade digital water quality meter and you’ll immediately see the difference. And when your filter’s coming towards the end of its life (the water starts to taste a little lemony), you can also use the meter to test the filtered water to confirm whether the filter needs changing.

How long does each filter last?

Each filter will turn up to 150 litres of tap water into ZeroWater, but this depends on the original quality of your tap water and the amount of dissolved solids, so they will last longer in soft water areas.

Helpful tip: if the filtered water starts to taste a little bitter, as if you’ve added lemon juice, it’s probably time to change your filter. Try to remember to check the levels with your FREE digital water meter every time you use the jug, so you are forewarned when the filters become less efficient. Once it’s over 006 the filter has expired and needs replacing.

Reduce plastic waste

Rather than buying bottles of purified water, fill your reusable travel bottle with water filtered through ZeroWater – not only will you be able to enjoy the filtered water you want, but you won’t have to throw away plastic bottle after plastic bottle.

Our tester says… We gave the one of the smaller 7-cup jugs to Alison from our Finance Department, who told us “I’ll never go back to bottled water having tried the ZeroWater Jug!” She says the taste difference between tap and filtered water is phenomenal – she’s tested this on friends and family too – and she really likes the feel-good factor of knowing she’s no longer contributing to the world’s plastic bottle problem. She loves the ZeroWater system so much that she begged to test the larger 12-cup version and now she keeps this one on her countertop while the other one lives in the fridge.

In the box

About ZeroWater

ZeroWater is the only gravity-fed water filtration system to match the purity of the very best filtered and bottled water, by capturing 99.6% of total dissolved solids, including residual minerals that can be prevalent in regional groundwater and run-off compounds that may leach into water supplies, especially after heavy rainfall. This breakthrough filtration system is certified by NSF International* to remove lead and other heavy metals, while The Good Housekeeping Research Institute recognise that ZeroWater removes more total contaminants than other brands of water filter.

*NSF International are an independent organisation, internationally recognised as experts in public health and safety issues and as their testing processes are extremely rigorous, gaining certification from them is highly prized.

"Essential product"

star star star star star

I bought this product to replace a very very old filter jug of another brand, and all I can say is that I wish I had bought it sooner. The capacity is what I need, with drinking water and filtered water for the OptiMist stove. I de-scaled the kettle and am using it there as well. The tea is clear and amber and tastes even better than usual. I have learned to use the TDS Meter, which rather puzzled me at first, and how lovely to see the display saying 0.00. The only thing that would be better is a ZeroWater filter on the tap itself. Thanks, Lakeland, for making my life better.

"Country cousin"

star star_border star_border star_border star_border

I Was pleased with the filtered water, however, the filter needed to be replaced after only two weeks use. The filters are too expensive to be replaced every two weeks so I returned the filter jug and have brought my old filter jug back in to use. Should the filters be improved and last longer, or the price considerably reduced, I would have no hesitation in purchasing another jug.

support_agent A note from the team

We're sorry this wasn't as expected. As the filter is very effective at removing impurities it depends on the tap water added.

"Not for hard water"

star star_border star_border star_border star_border

We have used this for about a fortnight. The water began to taste foul and the tester showed the filter was overdue for replacement. Not at that price! Perhaps it's the hard water in our area, but then that's why we bought the filter in the first place.

support_agent A note from the team

in a hard water area the filters won't last as long - we've passed your feedback on to the buyers and will be in touch directly.

"Hopeless in a hard water area"

star star_border star_border star_border star_border

This was an expensive mistake as I failed to keep the receipt having always had superb things from Lakeland before. The filters lasted less than three weeks so whilst the water tasted fantastic, this is at a great cost. I tried another pack of filters thinking this first was a fluke but the same thing happened. Lasted less than three weeks. This product needs a warning on it for hard water areas.

support_agent A note from the team

Each filter will turn up to 150 litres of tap water into ZeroWater, but this depends on the original quality of your tap water and the amount of dissolved solids, so they will last longer in soft water areas. However we're very sorry to hear this and will be in touch shortly.

"Would give no stars if possible"

star star_border star_border star_border star_border

Bought this jug and 2 filters to replace my old Brtita one, but have found it unusable, black and orange beads leach into the top of the filter, water has a strange taste and both my daughter and I reacted badly to water drunk from it with tingling lips and tongue. Complete waste of money.

support_agent A note from the team

We're sorry you haven't been happy with the water filter. The black / orange particles are the ion exchange particles - in order to prevent this we'd advise to avoid pouring water directly onto the filter, but in any case they won't end up in the filtered water you're drinking. The water will taste different from your average water filter as it removes the dissolved solids. You could try making sure the water filter is empty before refilling again so that it isn't left in there to long, or it maybe that it's simply time to change the filter.
