If you’ve been wanting to get on the fermentation wagon and have a go at making your own kefir but find it too complicated and messy, you need this Kefirko 1.4L Kefir Milk and Water Maker – a really easy home kefir-making system. Whether you make it with milk or water, this kit has been specifically designed to make home kefir as simple as possible to create – simply add kefir grains and your liquid of choice (milk or sugar water).
What’s in the box?
Why drink kefir?
There are many health benefits thought to be gained from drinking kefir – it contains easily digested proteins, it’s full of good bacteria that aid digestion, it boosts immunity and lowers blood pressure, and does so much more besides. And when you make it yourself, you know it's free from sweeteners, chemicals, additives or preservatives; unlike 'shop-bought' kefir you have complete control over its contents, it will continue to ferment inside the jar and produce increasing numbers of live cultures over time, and you can tailor it to your own taste. You can make as much or as little as you need and it’s great either consumed fresh or used as an ingredient in smoothies, shakes, ice cream, salads, cakes, cookies, pies, puddings and even bread… Your favourite meal can easily be more nutritious with kefir!
Easy to make
With only a small amount of preparation, you can enjoy fresh milk or water kefir every day thanks to this simple kit.
For milk kefir: simply measure the kefir grains in the measuring cup in the lid, put them in the glass jar and top up with milk. Then put the strainer lid on the jar and add the secure lid – making sure it’s a little loose to allow the air to circulate – and leave to ferment for 24 hours. It can then go in the fridge to stop the fermentation and chill before drinking. Once it’s ready, tighten the lid securely and shake, then pour through the strainer to remove the kefir and serve. If you’re making water kefir, the process is the same but you use water and sugar instead of milk and it can take longer to ferment, usually between 24 and 48 hours.
And it doesn’t stop there, as the same grains can be used again in the next batch – once you’ve strained your kefir, just measure the grains again and add more liquid to begin your next delicious batch.
This multi-faceted jar can be used for more than just kefir – it’s also suitable for sprouting seeds and pulses, and even for making your own kombucha (fermented tea) drink. The glass jar is leakproof and airtight when the lid is securely fastened, and the plastic lid and accessories are all BPA-free, so you can rest assured that your kefir (or Kombucha) is the healthiest and most nourishing it can be.
Easy to clean
All the parts of the Kefir Milk and Water Maker can go in the dishwasher for easy cleaning when you’ve finished making your kefir.
Based in Slovenia, the idea for Kefirko came to this company when the designers noticed how messy and complicated it is to make kefir at home, involving a lot of different equipment and taking a lot of time just to prepare it. With the help of crowd-funding and support from fellow fans of fermentation, they created an all-in-one product to make it easy for everyone to make their own delicious kefir at home and to incorporate fermented foods into their everyday life.
Please note: Kefir grains not included.
