iRobot Roomba 531

I dithered over buying one of these as it did seem hard to justify the price for my relatively small house, but having had it a couple of weeks now I really do think it is worth its weight in gold. I can set Robbie going, and then do something much more interesting than vacuuming. He does a great job, is relatively quiet, picks up a surprising amount, is easy to empty, doesn't fall down stairs, and even does a self satisfied little fanfare when he finishes and returns to his charging station. Only gripe would be for the cost the batteries for the 'virtual wall' should have been included.

Oh my goodness what a fantastic machine,received last week and it is like having our very own cleaner, Ok i still have to use the big vac now and then to do the stairs but once i set BETTY the irobot to do her daily tasks i can do other tasks and also as i suffer with a bad back and joints it,s a huge help. Roomba is wonderful! I pick our usual clutter up off the floor, and then we have a cup of coffee while the Roomba does the vacuuming - and it vacuums more efficiently than any other cleaner I've ever used. It's quiet, too. Roomba is very easy to maintain. I found the best way to empty the dust container was to hold it inside a plastic bag. But if you do spill a bit of dust on the floor, just press the Spot clean button on the Roomba, and it'll obligingly do a quick twirl and pick it up. With Roomba in our home, I'm finding housework fun for the first time in 50 years!

We hadn't really expected the Roomba to be much good but are absolutely delighted with it. The carpets look better than they have done for years as it picks up all the cat hair and it does a really good job on the tiled floors. We are also getting used to putting things away so that the Roomba doesn't have to negotiate too many hazards which has helped to improve the look of the house as well. It is simple to empty and clean the brushes and worth doing it regularly. It seemed quite an expensive purchase but was definitely worth it.

This is my 3rd Roomba, the first 2 were the original series and didn't last well, hence I bought this one from Lakeland knowing they'll help if it breaks after a year! It works very well, much quieter than the previous one and seems to pick up dog hairs better too. My only gripe is that it stops cleaning when more could be done, if I empty it and restart it picks up more dust so why did it decide the floor was clean and stop? My previous version had a 'max' function which let it keep in cleaning until the battery was low, I wish this had it too. Still a great product, buy one.
