"Good but could be better"

Your previous pet seat cover which lasted me for about 3 yrs and was £10 had loops to put over the front seat headrest as well, thus creating a safer hammock effect for dogs in the back. Otherwise it does the job well and protects seat from mud and hairs.

"rugged and waterproof"

I also bought the previous version for my 25 kilo dog. The front straps making a hammock were certainly safer and more comfortable for the overnight ferry and long journeys. Even for my little BMW 1 series I had to add several inches to the top and sides plus hook & loop straps to hold the sides in place. It was still good value and a lot less slippery than the shower curtain I used to use.

"could be better"

I was delighted initially to find these covers to protect the car from muddy paws. However while the fit is reasonable, the wearing is not! Just over two months use I find that the cover has split down one of the original fold lines. Not good enough considering the price and other than a puppy, and occasional shopping I would have expected it to last much longer!

"too big"

I agree with the previous reviews re the front straps, they kept any sand etc in the hammock instead of on the floor. My main problem with this is it's a lot wider between the back straps than the previous one. My puppy gets in between it and the seat, thus it is now useless to me.
